  • Family-friendly site two miles from Mundesley beach, with dogs welcome
  • A 15-minute drive from Cromer and half an hour to Wroxham Broad
  • Under 10 minutes’ walk from a village pub and playing field
Nosing around for a north Norfolk break that is well-based for countryside walks, crabbing, cruising The Broads and chilling at the beach? Try Meadow View Camping and Caravan Site, a family-friendly site on the coast just two miles from Mundesley. To be precise, it’s just a 40-minute walk (or a five-minute drive) from its beach and Victorian seafront, where there are beach huts. The site is in a peaceful Norfolk village called Trunch. You might be quite familiar with the place by the end of your stay – and happily so – because it has a social club hosting live music and two beer festivals per year, as well as a welcoming pub with fodder, beer, good music and other events. As if that isn't enough already, the village also has countryside walks, a playing field and a 15th-century church. No need to leave furry family members behind at Meadow View Camping and Caravan Site, as it's dog-friendly. Barbecues and firepits are also both welcome (just note that only firepits hired from Meadow View are permitted). You should have plenty of good tales for the firepit, with there being so many beaches nearby: Trimingham (10 minutes’ drive), Cromer (15 minutes) and Sheringham (25 minutes), for example. Walcott beach, 10 minutes' drive away, is a fine choice, with a café, ice cream parlour, fish and chips shop and a post office with a shop all along the seafront. In Mundesley, there are pubs, restaurants, cafés, takeaways, another social club, arcades, miniature golf, a petrol station and a supermarket – very handy indeed. Just remember that this is a rural location next to a working farm, so there are likely to be country smells and sounds at times.

What customers say

This spacious, peaceful campsite is highly recommended for its friendly, helpful staff and clean facilities, including spotless restrooms. Guests appreciate ample room between sites and beautiful countryside views. Fire pits are available, and the location is ideal for exploring nearby beaches and villages. While a few noted limited showers/restrooms during peak times, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many planning to return.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Firstly, I have to say that Meadow view camping and caravan site campsite is a great setting with wonderful views and lovely welcoming hosts! Ron and Christine are a lovely couple and really make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive. It really was a lovely campsite – there were very few others staying whilst we were there and we chose a pitch at the far end of the site.
It was super quiet and the facilities are the best we experienced.on our travels.
The toilets, showers etc. are spotlessly clean and spacious. It was like being in a nice hotel – not a campsite!
It is a relaxed site, where nothing is too much trouble for the owners.

Finally, this is a fabulous site in every way, it was both tranquil and relaxing in an idylic spot.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Friendly, helpful, loads of space to pitch. Lovely country side view. Quiet and tidy site with 3 small blocks which are the toilet, shower and kitchen block. Which was everything we needed. A couple movable goal posts but nothing else for kids but our kids are older kids so no issues

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very large field which has just 25 pitches so plenty of space.
We were met by owner on arrival, very friendly explained where could pitch up and left for us to choose.

Explained were different places to go, pub im easy walk down quiet lanes.

We didn’t need EHU, owner said we didn’t have to rush off in the morning if we wanted go for a walk etc.

Toilets and showers very clean.
Would highly recommended 👍

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked The facilities, friendly owner, location close to the village pub and the coast. Not too busy even on Friday and very dog friendly.

Disliked Nothing. Would suggest checking timing on light sensor in the men’s toilet block as can leave you in the dark.

From the manager: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for letting us know about the toilet sensor, we will get this looked at immediately by our electrician.

A site that I feel is still offering value for money.

Powered grass campsite

Liked The site is all grass and quite level, we don't normally use grass as our 'max and paddy van' gets stuck at the drop of a raindrop but given the drought like conditions it was not likely to happen. We booked last minute and received a warm welcome and a nice introduction to the site which is basically a huge grass field. The amenities are housed in container like pods on one edge and were all clean and quite smart looking. There are only a few EHU pitches, 5 from memory, they are along one edge and are very large. I think price wise it is bang on representing decent value for what it is. I felt we were really getting value for money here. There is a pub close bye in the village but we did not visit preferring to just chill in the sunshine with a tinny.

Liked I thoroughly enjoyed this campsite. Very helpful, friendly and informative staff. Lovely space with lots of room for everyone. Facilities are very clean and well set out. Site rules are very clear and friendly.

Disliked Limited electric points.
Could do with a common room for social, recreation and kitchen space.

Local attractions

When it comes to getting stuck into the north Norfolk coast, you might want to get a tick list going…there’s Overstrand beach and Walcott beach to see and crabbing on the pier in Cromer (all within 15 minutes' drive). Keep ticking them off: the lighthouse in Happisburgh (20 minutes), seal spotting at Blakeney Point (40 minutes) and Waxham (35 minutes) or sandy beaches at Sea Palling (half an hour) and Wells-next-the-Sea (55 minutes). The latter has a gorgeous fishing port running seal-watching trips. Inland’s just as excellent. There’s a generous handful of National Trust properties within driving distance, plus ways to get out onto The Broads in Wroxham (half an hour). You might want to board the Bure Valley Railway there or join The North Norfolk Steam Railway in Sheringham (25 minutes). For all you budding historians, Weybourne (half an hour) has the Muckleburgh Military Collection too. Family-friendly ventures are easily sourced, with various entertainments in North Walsham (10 minutes), treetop adventures at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) and all the attractions in Great Yarmouth (50 minutes) like Pleasure Beach, Britannia Pier and Sea Life Great Yarmouth.
