  • Small and simple site on a Warwickshire family farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle
  • Hikes, fishing and open water swimming in the surrounding area
Well, here’s a winning Warwickshire location for an alfresco break – Owl Barn Farm Camping is a small and family-oriented site 15 minutes’ drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and close to the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This countryside site is part of a family-run farm that you’ll be sharing with the resident chickens and goats (they live in a separate enclosure, but are always happy to receive visitors…) You’ll be staying on grass pitches with access to simple facilities including toilets, showers and a washing-up area. As for activities, on select dates during high season, the site runs goat yoga. Filling your days with outdoor pursuits should be straightforward around here – there are lots of walking trails to choose from, plus options nearby for fishing, paddleboarding and open water swimming. You’ll be able to tick off major landmarks too, including Warwick Castle and Stratford’s various Shakespeare-themed attractions. Meanwhile, if you’re here on a Saturday you’ll be able to head over the road and seek out treasures at Wellesbourne Airfield Market. For other shopping, there are a couple of supermarkets five minutes’ drive away for all your meal ingredients; if you’d rather eat out there are a few pubs around the area and plenty of places to choose from in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The open field with lots of space; the goats in the pen in the field - particularly goat yoga on Sunday!. We loved being able to play table tennis and the granddaughters loved the animal section - ducks, chickens, horse and cockrill - all can be handled by the kids under the owner, Vicky's, watchful eye. Toilets and showers are good with washing up sinks with loads of hot water. 300 yards from the aircraft museum which fills a couple of hours if the weather is not wonderful.

Disliked: It would be nice if there was a freezer for Ice packs as there is no electric hook-ups.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Lovely owners, no fixed pitches, mostly flat ground, not too busy on a bank holiday weekend so lots of space to pitch. The children loved the chickens, goats and horses and adored handling the chicks. The facilities are basic but clean. A few reviews from last year mentioned the washing up area - we found the water was lovely & hot, and there were 2 dedicated washing up sinks outside the shower / toilet block. Showers take 50p coins and are lovely and warm. Very quiet site, no road noise.

Disliked: Recycling bins would be great.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The pitches were nice and flat, and the owners were friendly and helpful. We went with our two young kids, they loved seeing the animals and were so excited about the airplanes. The airfield is not far from the site, so they had a great time watching all kinds of planes take off during the day.

Disliked: The 50p shower for 5 minutes isn’t ideal if you have small kids, you really have to plan ahead. Of course, you can add more time, but it’s a bit tricky when you’re in the middle of things.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: What a lovely campsite! I visited on Easter bank holiday. The owners Victoria and James are really friendly and handed out Easter eggs to the campers on Easter Sunday morning which I thought was a really nice personal touch.

The campsite has hot showers, toilets, washing up facilities with hot water and drinking water. There is a big Sainsbury’s superstore 6 minutes drive away which is really handy.

The goats are so friendly and it was really great that Victoria said I could go in to the goat pen and spend time with them as I’m totally goat obsessed! There is also a really friendly sheep named Louis who loves to be petted. I also took part in the goat yoga which was a hour of fabulous fun.

It was the perfect campsite for me and I’ve already booked another bank holiday camping here, with goat yoga, as I loved it so much. It’s definitely going to be a regular camping destination for me.
