Clubhouse

General

  • Colourful site home to alpacas, donkeys and peacocks
  • A five-minute drive from Atherstone and 10 from Twycross Zoo
  • Clubhouse with hammocks, woodburner, sofas, tea, coffee and shop

Bored of one-size-fits-all hols? Trundle along to Ettie’s Field, five minutes’ drive from the Warwickshire town of Atherstone, for colourful stays in a peaceful setting.

This is a site where garden-variety is absolutely not the name of the game, with alpacas, donkeys and peacocks hanging around, and a laidback attitude prevailing all around. There’s a cosy clubhouse open to guests daily too, with tea and coffee facilities (drop some cash into the honesty box), hammocks, comfy sofas and a woodburning stove and a ‘Boho-tique’ shop that’s full of eye-catching crafts.

All family members are welcome, so feel free to bring canine chums along (there’s even a dog-walking field when they need some time off lead) – this is prime walking country, with a handful of pubs within 15 minutes’ stroll, and the trails of Hoar Park and Hartshill Hayes within 20 minutes’ drive.

Toilets/bathrooms are beautiful. Very clean, high end almost luxury bathrooms - As good as a good hotels.
The site has a lovely feel to it, very calm.
The clubhouse (not a bar just a lovely sitting room) is very cozy and welcoming, shame we had the kids with us really as it would have been nice to sit and read there on a night but the kids go to bed early.
The animals are an added extra that was very lovely for the kids.

    Disliked:

This is feed back, not a dislike. Shower preassure needs improving, if somsone else is in the shower the one i was in goes to a dribble.
Thats it... the water was always hot and plentiful, just more power please :-)
    There is no play area.
    We will definatley go back

Lovely site with excellent facilities. The pod style bathrooms are something to behold! The whole site has something of a mini festival feel to it with hanging lights, chimineas and interesting layout. There is a cosy lounge with hanging seats and a cosy outdoor seating area. The owner is a real animal lover and dogs are very welcome, there's even Donkeys and Alpaca on site.

Had an amazing stay here with my daughter and her friend, beautiful small camp site but we had a massive pitch!! Everyone staying here were super friendly, they made friends with all the other children and played so nicely together, on our last night children and parents joined us in the club house for a games night, which was so much fun! The girls loved the animals who were so friendly they came up to us and let the children pet them! The toilets and showers were outstanding! Beautifully done and always super clean! There was a compost toilet down the bottom where we stayed that were just as outstanding And meant we didn’t have to walk to the top in the night for the toilet. The washing up area again was beautifully done and always clean, we never had to wait or que to use anything like at other sites! There were water points right next to all the pitches so we didn’t have to walk miles to fill up our water bottles. Each pitch had its own fire pit and you could buy a fire pitch pack at the shop. We had brought our own hot chocolate and coffee but if there was a coffee machine with tea, hot chocolate and coffee you can make in the club house with an honesty box. Close enough for us to visit Alton Towers, Trentham monkey forest (which I highly recommend!! Free roaming monkeys you can get up close to!) Warwick castle (after Warwick castle we went to st nicholas Park... which is a must! Little fun fair, park, splash pool and boats to hire.. the girls loved it!!) there’s a coded gate, you give your mobile number and when you want to leave or return you just call the number and hang up and the gate opens for you, the club house was amazing, super cosy and furnished beautifully also! A real bonus for English summer weather!! Meaning if you have a rainy day/evening you can get cosy in there instead of sitting in your tent, it also means you get to met other campers in a nice environment also there are sockets so you could charge your phone or tablet. I would give Ettie’s Field 10 stars if I could, myself and both girls want to stay again :):)
I didn’t use the WiFi I hadn't realised they had it as I have unlimited data, but I’m sure that would be just as amazing as everything else here

    Disliked:

Local attractions

If the site’s coterie of alpacas, donkeys and peacocks isn’t enough to satisfy ardent zoologists, Ettie’s Field is well placed for even more encounters of the fluffy, feathered and four-footed kind. Guests can walk with the animals at Lucky Tails Alpaca Farm or get into a flap at Tropical Birdland, both 20 minutes’ drive from base, or have more exotic days closer to home at Twycross Zoo, 10 minutes away.

There’s plenty hereabouts for active types too: those at home on the water can sail and canoe at Bosworth Water Trust, fans of the Winter Olympics can go for gold in skiing, snowboarding or skating at Snowdome, and there are rope courses, zip wires, underground tunnels and barefoot trails (for a start) that energetic people can try at Conkers, all within half an hour of the site.

History buffs might want to slow things down – luckily there’s plenty round here to ease them into the past, starting with the award-winning Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre 10 minutes away, and moving on to the ruins of Ashby-de-la-Zouch castle and the far less ruined Calke Abbey, Coombe Abbey, Kenilworth Castle (and Elizabethan Garden) and Warwick Castle within an hour.

Come vrooming back to the present with a visit to the Triumph motorbike factory, then keep things high(ish) octane with family days less than an hour away at Drayton Manor theme park and Hatton Adventure World, and a little further afield at Alton Towers.

Must see
