  • Family-run dairy farm and fishery with views over The Roaches
  • Short drive to Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and Tittesworth Water
  • On-site farm shop and farm animals; 10 minutes' walk to two local pubs
Set on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Brooklyn Grange Farm is a back-to-basics site on a family-run dairy farm surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside. The scenery here is varied indeed, with views over quiet fishing pools, grassy meadows and the spectacular rocky ridge known as The Roaches. You'll also be well placed to sample local produce at this small-scale site – you can head to the farm shop, which sells eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, barbecue meats and other goodies, or grab a local ice cream, milkshake or fresh milk from the on-site Milk Barn. You're welcome to light up a barbecue, as long as it's kept off the grass. If you don't have your own, there are firepits for hire (a cash deposit is required) from the farm shop and kindling and logs for sale. There's also a village pub and carvery around 10 minutes' walk away on the edge of Thorncliffe (with another around 10 minutes' walk away in Blackshaw Moor). For more flavours, try Leek (five minutes' drive), a local market town with a good range of restaurants, cafés and food shops. After a trip to town it's back to the countryside, where you might like to try a spot of catch-and-return fishing at one of the site's well-stocked ponds (for an extra fee, to be booked and paid for at the on-site farm shop; you must have an Environment Agency licence; no fishing available during the spawning season, which is generally in late May and/or early June). You could also take yourself off for a hike in the national park (a mile away), where there are many miles of well-mapped trails to explore. As for facilities, Brooklyn Grange Farm has functional and well-maintained toilets for guests. There is one shower available here (bookable for an extra charge at the farm shop), or you can take the option of travelling five minutes down the road to Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Liked: We loved the location of the farm which is situated in a walking distance to a pub or a beautiful park and lake ( Tittesworth Water).Toilets are clean.
The farm itself was lovely, the owners friendly and helpful. Their ice cream is a must try, so delicious and generous portion!
Thanks

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The surroundings were nice, lots of space, no real issues, toilets were portloos but very clean and nothing like a festival so cannot be faulted. Near the roaches and easy access to Bakewell and various little towns.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: lovely semi wild camp with fab views of the roaches , hen cloud. location is perfect for visiting many places and leek town is just down the road , it has washing up sinks . drinking water and toilets. we only use the water tap. wash dishes at tent easy enough boil a pan of water then add some cold and some washing up liquid , also take own camping loo. it's easy enough to be self sufficient. if the site added all kinds of luxuries it will no longer be a semi wild camp snd therfore wouldn't appeal to us. plz don't change a thing .

Disliked: maybe the wind at times it can get gusty ! but it's open on high ground so its to be expected.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful views and right next to some really lovely trails within the Peak District, including The Roaches. The Farm shop is great, especially if you realise you have forgotten anything once you arrive! They also serve delicious ice cream and raw milk! And if the farm shop doesn't have what you need, then you are not far from Leek town centre. It's a real treat being on an active farm with friendly farm animals like cows, sheep, donkeys and chickens. It wasn't too busy for a sunny weekend either, so it still felt somewhat secluded. The people who own the farm were really friendly and helpful and kept the grounds nice and clean.

Disliked: The only thing to be aware of is that it is an active farm, so it becomes quite noisy in the morning, but bring some earplugs and you should be alright!

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Loved the farm and the views of the hikes I was doing! Toilets are really good but we’re getting really dirty throughout the day.
I liked the easy facilities, skip for a bin and open washing up sinks
How close both mountains were only a 7 minute drive to The Roaches

I really like the check out time being later so you can have a slow morning

Disliked: A lot of people camped very close by the toilets and this made going a very awkward walk, the family were listening to explicit songs too so I wouldn’t have been happy if I had my daughter with me. I was told I couldn’t camp near the lake as it was reserved for fishing, however I watched 4 people pitch up lake side who were not fishing and nothing was said to them.
In the shop I was made to feel slightly awkward that I was on my own, the lady kept repeating I had booked 2 adults and I was trying to explain the site automatically does this even though I booked for one person. Also the farm dogs roam around the campsite all day and night taking food and drinking your dogs water it’s no issue but they poo near your campsite and there’s no one to pick it up but you. If you had a dog that did not liked to be approached this may be an issue for you.

Trails Day (20 minutes' walk), a centre where guests can learn to ride a trial bike, or Tittesworth Reservoir (10 minutes' drive) for watersports and walking, and Madrenaline Activities (15 minutes) for archery and axe-throwing. Rudyard Lake (15 minutes) has a miniature railway too. A bit of luxury?
