Smart Shropshire stays are what’s on offer at Stoney Acres Luxury Holiday Park, a peaceful adults-only touring site in a handy location just off the A49 about 15 minutes’ drive south of Shrewsbury. Easy access to the main road means that it’s simple to get out and explore your surroundings from this park, whether you’re heading up into town, going south into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape or aiming to take in places like Ludlow and the museums of Ironbridge. Once you’ve parked up on site, you can leave the car behind and get around by public transport if you prefer. Handy bus services to Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton leave from the nearby village of Dorrington (10 minutes’ walk away). There are plenty more useful things in the village too – it’s got a village shop, a butchers, a restaurant and a gastropub to make mealtimes easy (whether you’re doing your own cooking or eating out). Back on site, you’ll be staying at a pretty park with landscaped grounds and the extra level of peace you get from a child-free environment. As the name suggests, everything here has been designed to give a sense of luxury to your stay – the bathrooms, for example, have underfloor heating, rainfall showers and granite worktops, along with handy extras like hair dryers. Each pitch has a 16-amp electric supply, a drinking water and waste water facility and a digital TV hookup, and you’ll also have access to shared facilities including a laundry room, ultrafast fibre wifi and a dog wash station to avoid muddy paws after walks with your four-legged pal. The site is immaculate, and the toilet/shower block is pristine.
We fell in love with their dog Prince, and wish him good health.

Liked What can I say, excellent site, best site we have stayed on, excellent toilet & shower facilities, constantly checked & keep spotlessly cleaned, music playing in shower is great touch
excellent security onto site ( barrier & gate), great WiFi / signal never dropped out in whole week we were there

only 10 min walk into Dorrington for buses to Shrewsbury & Ludlow, lovely pub in dorrington horseshoe inn

Liked Lovely site and very friendly. The showers are amazing and kept very clean. A 10 minute walk to the nearest bus stop and pub. The food is lovely and very welcoming. The picnic tables and umbrellas were a nice touch and it was lovely to have somewhere to sit other than around your own pitch

Liked Very friendly and helpful receptionist at check-in.
Spacious pitch with good distance between us and other vans.

Excellent EHU, water and grey waste.

Shower and toilet block is exceptionally good. Clean & Modern.

Bus stop to either Ludlow or Shrewsbury is approximately 15 minutes walk away.

Near the bus stop is an excellent pub with very good food.

Disliked The only negative is that the ground at our pitch (no.8) was so hard I found it impossible to adequately pitch the awning, actually bending 3 pegs in the process.

Liked Large pitches fully serviced best shower units we have ever come across. Warm welcome on arrival and welcome pack was a treat . Very peaceful site once through the gates .

Disliked Have to say the noise from the road wasn’t good but I suppose you get used to it after a while but was very busy at times and crossing became a sport . Possibly would have liked a dog walking area .

Liked Small site with 18 fully serviced hard standing pitches, excellent sanitary and shower facilities, friendly staff and cheerful welcome plus small gift pack on arrival. Bus stop for Ludlow or Shrewsbury about 20 mins walk if you’re slow.

Disliked Could do with some dividing hedges and a few trees but new site so still time. Very close to busy A49 and gravel loading site so ear plugs useful especially at night.

Liked hi, loved everything, all clean and tidy, just a pity some people allow there dogs to do there mess on the grass next to your pitch, instead of going round the outside of the complex like most people do

Local attractions

The Shropshire Hills National Landscape is well known as a lovely place for a walk, and you’ll be in prime position to explore from Stoney Acres. Some of the best known places to head for are Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (15 minutes’ drive) and the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve (35 minutes), but there are plenty of quieter trails to seek out too. There are lots of historic locations to visit around this area too – perhaps you’d like to stroll around the grounds of Attingham Park Estate (15 minutes), step further back in time at Wroxeter Roman City (15 minutes) or get to know the various museums of Ironbridge Gorge (half an hour), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the Industrial Revolution. For more days out, find boat trips and canoe hire in Shrewsbury (15 minutes) or head south to Ludlow (35 minutes) to browse its foodie shops, tour its gin distillery and see its ruined castle.
