  • Luxurious adults-only touring park with easy access from the A49
  • A 15-minute drive to Shrewsbury, Attingham Park or Carding Mill Valley
  • Peaceful dog-friendly site 10 minutes' walk from Dorrington village
Smart Shropshire stays are what’s on offer at Stoney Acres Luxury Holiday Park, a peaceful adults-only touring site in a handy location just off the A49 about 15 minutes’ drive south of Shrewsbury. Easy access to the main road means that it’s simple to get out and explore your surroundings from this park, whether you’re heading up into town, going south into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape or aiming to take in places like Ludlow and the museums of Ironbridge. Once you’ve parked up on site, you can leave the car behind and get around by public transport if you prefer. Handy bus services to Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton leave from the nearby village of Dorrington (10 minutes’ walk away). There are plenty more useful things in the village too – it’s got a village shop, a butchers, a restaurant and a gastropub to make mealtimes easy (whether you’re doing your own cooking or eating out). Back on site, you’ll be staying at a pretty park with landscaped grounds and the extra level of peace you get from a child-free environment. As the name suggests, everything here has been designed to give a sense of luxury to your stay – the bathrooms, for example, have underfloor heating, rainfall showers and granite worktops, along with handy extras like hair dryers. Each pitch has a 16-amp electric supply, a drinking water and waste water facility and a digital TV hookup, and you’ll also have access to shared facilities including a laundry room, ultrafast fibre wifi and a dog wash station to avoid muddy paws after walks with your four-legged pal. The modern design also means this park is fully accessible to guests with disabilities.

Liked I have to say first of all this is a return to this site because they made me so incredibly welcome last year. This site is near to family and so I visited on my own as my adult kids / O H don't always have availability to come on family visits these days. This is a very secure site with a double gate and barrier. There is CCTV.

My van is usually one of the smallest on the site- because there are some really fancy big vans I think the security needs to be top notch. Because of the big fancy motorhomes, I seem to be having the very nice toilet and shower facilities to my self along with just a couple of other people with smaller vans.

Do remember to take some very sharp pegs with you.. hard hard standing ...
I asked for a pitch by the water which was nice but only suitable for the smaller vans.
The staff owners are incredibly kind and helpful. The place is spotless. It's quite new and you can see that a lot of thought has gone into it.

It is on the main road but that suits the big camper vans as lots of the roads around there are very small without passing places. There is a bus on the main road but it is a 10 to 15 minute walk along the road. The campsite is situated between two interesting places of Shrewsbury and Church Stretton.

Awning friendly but no tents.... awning has to go on the hardstanding so bring mats. There is grass for sitting out.

Disliked Not sites fault - would have liked nearer bus but fit folk were less bothered than me as a bit older and less fit!

Liked This is s fantastic adults only site. The owners are lovely and we were given a small gift bag on arrival, which was a nice touch. The ammenities are immaculate and the site is spotless. Very quiet with only 18 pitches but everything is close to hand. Free Wi-fi, the village is a short walk away and its only a short drive to Shrewsbury and surrounding areas This site is a credit to the owners. We will definitley stay again.

Disliked Nothing.

Fully-serviced gravel and concrete caravan site (large)

Liked What a fantastic site they have thought of everything. The toilets are so clean, the showers aren’t the button ones where you have to press it every 20 seconds.
Very good for dogs there is a full dog wash on site, on every fire stand there was Pooh bags just in case you forgot them.
There is a laundrette on site but didn’t use this.
There is no shop or pub on site but the owners tell you the pub, shop and restaurant is a 10 minute down the road which it is. I found this nice that they are helping the village services.
The staff are very friendly. Any questions they are willing to help. The site is very peaceful

Disliked No views basically in a big ditch. Wifi was very weak and slow, and the owner likes wearing a stab vest with handcuffs strange??

Local attractions

The Shropshire Hills National Landscape is well known as a lovely place for a walk, and you’ll be in prime position to explore from Stoney Acres. Some of the best known places to head for are Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (15 minutes’ drive) and the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve (35 minutes), but there are plenty of quieter trails to seek out too. There are lots of historic locations to visit around this area too – perhaps you’d like to stroll around the grounds of Attingham Park Estate (15 minutes), step further back in time at Wroxeter Roman City (15 minutes) or get to know the various museums of Ironbridge Gorge (half an hour), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the Industrial Revolution. For more days out, find boat trips and canoe hire in Shrewsbury (15 minutes) or head south to Ludlow (35 minutes) to browse its foodie shops, tour its gin distillery and see its ruined castle.
