Sweeney Farm Glamping: Exterior of Mountain Lodge

General

  • Luxury safari tents on a family-run organic farm in rural Shropshire
  • 10 minutes drive from Oswestry; 45 minutes from Snowdonia
  • Firepit, woodburning stove and well-equipped kitchen for each tent

Swish Shropshire site Sweeney Farm Glamping has been set up with smart and spacious safari tents in the grounds of a family-run organic dairy farm 10 minutes’ drive from Oswestry and close to the border of England and Wales.

Each of the sizeable tents here has been built on a sturdy wooden platform to guard against squishy feet and give outdoor space for chilled-out hours of gazing out over the gorgeous views. Inside, each has been kitted out with proper bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom, and there are lots of lovely touches such as luxury bed linen and a stack of wood to feed your woodburning stove and firepit.

A short trot from the tent takes you to the laundry room, which houses not only a washing machine and tumble dryer but also a bundle of tourist information and a stash of toys and outdoor games to keep the small sorts happy.

When it’s time to head out, there are plenty of historic and natural attractions within easy driving distance, plus shops, cafés and the like three miles away in Oswestry. If you’d like to get out and stretch your legs, you can pick up a public footpath directly from the site for rural rambles; stroll along for half an hour and you can reward yourself with a pint from a country pub.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Safari Bell Tent & surroundings where excellent. Spacious, clean & great view. Short drive to a variety of shops & other places to visit.
Was great to be able to just do nothing, listen to nature & noises around the farm. Had a visit from a squirrel in the tent, looking for goodies during the night which made us laugh. Each morning thereafter he would be waiting outside around 7.30am to pounce in & see what he could get his hands on :-)
Helen was great, welcoming on arrival & seen us off. Always available on her mobile if needed, but very much just leaves you to enjoy your Glamping experience. We will be going back again 2022.

    Disliked:

Bit noisy with some traffic build up due to some road works at certain times. Not of fault of Sweeney Farm.
We took a amazon firestick & used our phones as hotspots for wifi on the days it rained heavy & watched movies..... would advise for autumn/winter months access to wifi as can be data draining when using as a hotspot.

Brilliant unique experience on a working farm. Tent was well equipped, with loads of firewood provided for the fire pit and log burner. My kids loved going to visit the animals, especially Orville the pig.

The Safari tent was perfect for us, everything you needed was included and it was spotless. The beds were so comfortable and warm. The bathroom was a good size with a lovely shower that never ran cold.
We lit a fire every night to take the chill off for the children and the place was soon toasty warm, there is ample wood and a companion set.
We never got round to using the fire pit outside as we were so tired every night but it was a good size and a nice set up.
The tents are located in an ideal place for touring Wales and England with easy routes in all directions.
Helen has thought of everything and in the shed you will find lots of information for things to do with notes on places to visit. Inside the shed is lots of family games as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. The washing machine and tumbler made a huge difference to us as the kids were going through all of there clothes in 1 day!
Just down the road is a choice of supermarkets and takeaways. We chose to eat at the tent most nights. There is a 2 ring hob and a small oven which is good for things like pizza and warming items.
Overall a lovely stay and highly recommended.

The road that goes past the farm is never quiet, so there was always a low background of traffic noise. Probably nothing more than you get in a normal village but we really noticed it without solid walls!
