Liked There’s lots of space and lovely sheep and rabbits to watch. we could have a fire pit which we like. The lady on reception was lovely and informative too. She made me feel so welcome when I checked in. Our dogs loved exploring this clean and pretty site.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked I loved this campsite! The facilities are amazing. Spacious clean showers and toilets, wifi across the whole site, on-site shop with most camping needs like hook-up and groceries. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Absolutely beautiful setting, freedom to choose your pitch for the grass non electric. Overall an excellent experience!

Powered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Country location, with views across the fields. Excellent facilities, shop, fire pits to hire, kitchen area, leisure activities. Toilet block clean and spacious. Friendly hosts.
Laid track around site so whatever the weather you can get on and off ok.
Farm produce and proper coffee ☕️

Disliked Close to rail track and on week days heavy haulage trains were noisy, but luckily stopped over weekend.
Only 3 toilets in ladies so at busy times had to queue. Busy weekend because of event at Burleigh HT.

Local attractions

Osprey, teal, crested grebe… alongside the rich variety of feathered life in Rutland Water Nature Reserve, 10 minutes' drive away, there's trout fishing to be had, plus windsurfing, sailing, boat cruises on the Rutland Belle and miles of paths for hikers and bikers to explore. Even fans of invertebrates and reptiles are included, with 75 species of crawling, scuttling and slithering things at Bugtopia, accompanied by meerkats and racoon dogs. Castle fans and history buffs will be kept busy, beetling round the solid brickwork of 12th-century Oakham Castle (15 minutes' drive), the palatial Tudor pile of Burghley House (20 minutes) and the dungeons of Newark Castle (50 minutes). Newark’s National Civil War Centre and Air Museum make the town top of the list for time travellers. For a different sort of journey, drive 15 minutes to Wansford for a puff on the steam-powered Nene Valley Railway, or explore the universe at the National Space Centre in Leicester (50 minutes). A punt down the river in Cambridge, an hour away, makes a pretty fine way to see the city and its oldest colleges, while the various museums offer everything from polar exploration to Persian carpets to particle accelerators.
