  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

Family-friendly site, spacious spots, clean facilities. Staff friendly, lots for kids (animals, play area). Relaxed vibe, good location. Some found facilities dated, train noise a factor for light sleepers. Great value, recommended for families.

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Absolutley great set up and everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Bar area and on-site shop for necessities, social sitting area and plenty of space for kids. The staff on-site are so friendly and helpful. The Top toilets and showers are great, clean and what you'd expect. Field toilets are a basic set up but it works and are convenient if you are at the far end of the site.

Just a lads get away this time, but are already planning to return with our families in a few weeks as the site has everything you could want from a for a camping trip.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The campsite was generally clean and the wife and younger lad that were staff were helpful. The goats and chickens were also a great edition. You had the freedom to pitch where you wanted to which was nice - but be aware each booking isn’t just a pitch it’s one tent. Would be great for kids because a big play area and bouncy castles.

Food was very good

Disliked The campsite is very loud due to a train being right next to it, - we probably should have looked. Would just advice ear plugs

6-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Friendly welcome
Countryside location
Lovely bar area
Friendly goats

Disliked The site allows people to play music and several pitches were playing music loud enough to be heard right across the site.
A man on one pitch was flying a drone overhead for several hours and it's illegal to fly within 50 metres of other people

6-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Everything really. We've seen a negative review that everyone should ignore. I think they must have been somewhere else by mistake! Or they're completely bonkers! We're very experienced campers and there is nothing wrong with this site!

Disliked Nothing

16-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Great campsite with good amount to do. Went on solo one nighter with 3 year old and 1 year old. Safe enough for them to run around. Campers all respectful of speed limits - (roads won’t allow fast anyway) they loved seeing the animals, playing in park and ice lollies of course - really fair prices in the shop. Check in and out easy - great stay - thanks - will be going back.

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked The goats and avery were great for the kids. Loads of open space for the kids to play.
The shop and bar were very reasonably priced

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities were not cleaned often enough. The sinks and showers were slow to drain, smelt of urine constantly, no soap in the dispensers and weren’t refilled in the 4 days we were there.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Unfortunately again not an accurate review for your time of stay as the majority of reviews show. Facilities are cleaned regularly. The soap dispensers was filled as soon as staff were made aware, and the cleaner also made aware to check more regularly when lots of kids on site - as they're foam they normally last weeks (but obviously not on this occasion, we do apologise, however a simple word to staff would of rectified the issue instantly).

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
