  • Well-maintained adults-only Cotswolds campsite in rural Oxfordshire
  • Half an hour’s drive to Warwick Castle; Stratford-upon-Avon 25 minutes
  • Secure site with landscaped pitches; pub and shop five minutes’ drive
If you’re something of a wildlife fan or indeed just fancy somewhere peaceful and adults-only to bed down in Cotswolds countryside, Crofts Barn, a 20-minute drive from the market town of Banbury, in Oxfordshire, may be the spot for you. Life on site is quiet enough for you to hear the birds singing and the crickets chirping – and on summer evenings, you may well hear badgers grunting in the fading light. Deer, muntjac, squirrels and rabbits often put in an appearance too. And that’s before you take the livestock into account: in neighbouring fields, you can often watch the antics of the horses and cheeky goats. Access to the pitches (which are neatly mowed areas on a ridge-and-furrow meadow) is through a digitally locked gate, so you can be sure of a high level of security. Solar lights illuminate the short walk to the toilet/shower block, so you don’t have to look for a torch in the middle of the night if you need the loo. There’s a village shop in Tysoe (five minutes’ drive), which should have pretty much everything you need on the foodie front – and there’s a pub if you fancy a crafty pint. Since guests are not permitted on site, you’ll want to meet family and friends in the local coffee shops and pubs in the area. Want to get out and about exploring the Cotswolds by car, on foot or by bike? Or are you content to sit and chill on site? At Crofts Barn, you have the chance to do either one – or a bit of both…

The View primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely hilltop setting, spacious tent field, warm welcome on arrival, beautiful surrounding villages and countryside. Loved the friendly horse and goats.

Disliked: Not a dislike, but a note of caution to fellow tent campers to check the wind rating on your tent is high & take extra pegs/guy ropes as the tent area is very exposed, there is no natural protection from trees/buildings as there is for the caravan pitches which are located nearer the farm buildings and have mature trees surrounding them.

Sunrising Hill powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Beautiful, well-kept, friendly site. Pitches had plenty of space. Lovely view from the fire pit. Good lighting around the site. Added safety of keypad entry gate. The facilities were absolutely spotless and I could tie my dog to the bench in the shade just outside. Friendly, helpful owners. Nice dog walk from the site too. Enjoyed my little break a lot.

Disliked: Not being able to make the shower cooler! It was a hot day!

Sunrising Hill powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Such a lovely campsite, very beautiful with great walks and views.
Toilets and showers were very clean.
The site has plenty of space and is quiet without being too silent!
Lovely walk to the local airfield with a bar and pop up catering.
Guests are asked not to rate the WiFi as it’s not in a high speed area, but we found it absolutely fine (you’re camping not sat on zoom)

Disliked: Just a tiny one - the water in the shower was v hot and you can’t change it. On a hot day the shower room is a little hot and sweaty as a result!
