If you’re something of a wildlife fan or indeed just fancy somewhere peaceful and adults-only to bed down in Cotswolds countryside, Crofts Barn, a 20-minute drive from the market town of Banbury, in Oxfordshire, may be the spot for you. Life on site is quiet enough for you to hear the birds singing and the crickets chirping – and on summer evenings, you may well hear badgers grunting in the fading light. Deer, muntjac, squirrels and rabbits often put in an appearance too. And that’s before you take the livestock into account: in neighbouring fields, you can often watch the antics of the horses and cheeky goats. Access to the pitches (which are neatly mowed areas on a ridge-and-furrow meadow) is through a digitally locked gate, so you can be sure of a high level of security. Solar lights illuminate the short walk to the toilet/shower block, so you don’t have to look for a torch in the middle of the night if you need the loo. There’s a village shop in Tysoe (five minutes’ drive), which should have pretty much everything you need on the foodie front – and there’s a pub if you fancy a crafty pint. Since guests are not permitted on site, you’ll want to meet family and friends in the local coffee shops and pubs in the area. Want to get out and about exploring the Cotswolds by car, on foot or by bike? Or are you content to sit and chill on site? At Crofts Barn, you have the chance to do either one – or a bit of both…

Gostou Everything just perfect, beautiful pitches in mown fields, all facilities spotless.

Great stopover on the edge of the Cotswolds, just 10 miles from the M40. We were travelling North to South, so this was a tranquil place to take a break.

Gostou Wow what a beautiful campsite!

We only had one night here as we where meant to be going on to Warwick castle for an event but it got cancelled due to the heatwave so we still went away as we found out 45 minutes away from a nearly 3 hour drive! Anyway I'm glad we did it was such a beautiful campsite really well laid out very spacious feeling.

The facilities on the 'view' end of the campsite where spotlessly clean and very up to date which makes them very pleasant to use.

There was also a beautiful walk around the back of the campsite next to a small stream to a wildlife pond with a little shelter you can relax in or carry on further to explore local walks.

The amount of wildlife there was just incredible I don't think I have seen that many butterflies in a long time. Plenty of birds to see aswell if you like checking the Merlin bird app but also a lovely chestnut horse and 3 goats to see in the fields.

The Dingles Lote autocaravana de grama com eletricidade opcional

Gostou Fantastic sized private pitch (the Dingles), bounded by hedgerow that some thought has gone into. A minor detail to some but it's full of variation and thoughtful planting. The whole site seems thought out similarly, little details that really add up. Lovely peaceful site, no noise at all. Great for dog owners as there's a lovely little walk with direct access from the site. It's teeming with wildlife, we saw Muntjac, a Stag and his Doe and a fox on our evening walk.

Electric within 5m and water on the pitch. Toilets were 50 yards away and spotlessly clean as was the potwash area.


We'd recommend this to friends, a very relaxing stay. Check in and out was flawless and easy via WhatsApp, owner met us and showed us where everything was, very informative and helpful.

Active types can get out on walking and cycling adventures across the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, play golf in Chipping Norton (20 minutes' drive) and Brailes (10 minutes) or explore the countryside on horseback (10 minutes). If you’d rather watch someone else do the hard work, get dressed up for horse racing at Cheltenham (an hour) and Warwick (half an hour), or book tickets well ahead of time for motor-racing at Silverstone Circuit (45 minutes). Vehicles of a more stationary kind are displayed at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes), and for more high-brow pursuits, head for Stratford-upon-Avon (25 minutes) to see where Shakespeare was born and attend one of his plays at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Warwick Castle (half an hour) has a bunch of seasonal activities as well as state rooms to explore.
