  • Tourer site 20 minutes’ drive from Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire
  • Lincoln and Retford 25 minutes’ drive; Sherwood Forest 35 minutes
  • Dog-friendly pitches; all-year coarse fishing; pub five minutes’ walk
Set in 27 acres of Nottinghamshire countryside 20 minutes’ drive from the market town of Newark-on-Trent, Marnham Lake Fishing and Camping is a laid-back stop for touring caravans, with spacious pitches on grass meadows sheltered by trees. Of course, the major pull here is the well-stocked, four-acre coarse fishing lake, where you can fish for roach, bream, tench and carp up to 16lb, but the non-fishing folk among you will still find plenty to keep you busy on site. Grab the chance to follow all the wildlife walks (great exercise for any canines holidaying with you), where you can keep an eye out for wild rabbits and take binoculars to spot birds of prey circling above. If you’re looking for on-site entertainment and a swimming pool, this is not the place for you. Simple on-field amenities stretch to a small toilet block and washing-up facilities, and the vibe is one of peace and calm. Should you want to live it large while staying here, there’s a pub in Marnham village (five minutes’ walk), and you can get your fill of bars and restaurants in buzzy Newark and Retford (25 minutes’ drive).
