  • Small family-run site among five acres of green Lincs countryside
  • A mile from Sutton on Sea and within walking distance of Huttoft beach
  • Next to a riding centre and 20 minutes' drive from Skegness
Well now, this is a popular little place. 'Fab', 'beautiful' and 'brilliant' are but of a few of the plaudits that have been heaped on small, family-run and friendly South Farm Caravan Park, set deep in the Lincolnshire countryside a mile from colourful Sutton on Sea. Families, couples and solo travellers are all welcome here, and dogs would likely give the farm an approving woof too: many walks are nearby along the countryside lanes and fields, and the walks – and bike rides – of the Lincolnshire Wolds are very close by. The closest beach, Huttoft or Moggs Eye, has miles of dog-friendly sands for the pooch to let loose. If you think the kids would like to canter, riding lessons and a pony club are at the equestrian centre next door to the farm; if they tend more towards a seaside vibe, Skegness is about 20 minutes away. (And if after that you tend towards a gentler vibe, the long wide open sands of peaceful Huttoft beach are within walking distance of the farm.) Facilities at the farm include spotless shower and toilet blocks (these are based away from the pitches and require a walk) and a washing-up area. There's a small tea room open every day during the school holidays only and a games room.

What customers say

This friendly, clean, well-located campground earns praise for its welcoming owners and staff. Guests enjoyed the peaceful vibe and convenient on-site cafe. It's good value with clean facilities, a short walk/drive to local beaches. Families liked the kid-friendly amenities. Some found toilet blocks distant from pitches; some facilities are dated, but improvements are ongoing.

Liked Nice and quiet, near to footpath to walk to Sutton on sea. Close enough to be able to walk to the beach.

Disliked Long walk to the loos, didn't know about the 50p for a shower until I got there, as not mentioned in the site info.

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us.

Yes it’s a long walk but let me reassure you I’ve been to worse and not moaned.
All information about the toilets being “miles” away from the pitches and that we charge 50p for 5 minutes use of the showers (which again we are totally in our right to do) is on the pitch up write up and is also in the welcome pack that you receive upon arrival so you have been given plenty of information regarding this.

Sorry that these 2 small matters were not to your satisfaction.

Altogether a little updating needed but ok for the price.

Liked Location good. Just a mile across fields to lovely beach and new nature reserve. A few miles from town.

Disliked Camping pitches are an unacceptable 250 metres or so from washroom and toilets.
Men's facilities run down, cramped and could benefit from updating, i understand women's are a bit better.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us.

Please don’t say it’s unacceptable that the toilets are 250 meters away, yes they are a walk away from the pitches which for the record is stated in the pitch up write up and had you bothered to read this before booking you would have been fully aware.

Yes we do agree that the toilets need updating and this is on our to do list.

Liked Good location. Warm welcome. Pitches are level. Clean toilets and showers.
Please see below for advice.

Disliked Not really a dislike, just some advice.
The grass pitches are quite a distance to the shower/toilet block, so I would advise to take a portable toilet with you. Also you need to take 50p pieces for the 3-minute shower. Also take a 25m electric cable as my 10m wasn't long enough from my pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us.

Toilet distance and the charge for the showers is all in the write up on pitch up which you should have read before booking.
Please let me be clear it’s 50p for 5 minutes not 3.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Loved the space and level pitch
Clean toilets and showers.
Friendly staff
Walking distance to the beach

Disliked A dog was barking all day and night not sure who owned it but I think it belonged to one of the static caravans

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us.

Should you have come and spoken to one of us we may have been able to go and find the owner and asked them if they could have taken the dog inside but if we’re not informed about this when you are here, we then can’t address it once you have gone.

Liked The site was really well priced, and the staff on site were really helpful and friendly. Close to where we needed to be and the on site tea room was handy. Well kept touring pitches, and while the facilities were a little dated, they were all kept very clean and tidy.

Disliked Mens toilet facilities were a little dated and cramped. Also shower was 50p to use. No problem paying but I would prefer to pay a couple of pounds extra on the pitch price but have the showers free just so it's a little more convenient to use.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us.

All information about the charge for the showers is in the write up on pitch up.

We keep our pitch prices as low as we possibly can so that everyone can enjoy a holiday and not pay extortionate prices.

Our showers are charged at the minimum 50p for 5 minutes, while this my not be convenient for you, it helps keep our water bill down as some people/children leave the water running once they have finished and if no one notices it can be left on for hours at a time.
Hope this helps you understand why we charge.

Good clean, friendly small site,

Liked Nice welcome on arrival, shown to pitch, all clean and tidy, for us we were near toilets. Good site thanks

Disliked Long walk from camping field to toilet, but does mention this on site.
Not a fault but not near other facilities shops, long walk over fields to beach etc.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us and sorry that my site wasn’t right for you.

Yes it is a walk away but as you have stated it does explain this on the pitch up write up.

No we don’t have shops within walking distance (that’s one of the many wonderful things about living in the country side it’s not the city) but the coop is a 3 minute drive away!

Local attractions

This is a smashing spot for family and beach hols, with both Sutton on Sea and Huttoft beaches close by for colourful beach huts at the first and a peaceful relaxing vibe at the second. Skegness is an easy drive along the coast, and Mablethorpe and Ingoldmells are also easily accessible to the north and south. Among the many other activities near the farm are the ambles and pedals of the Lincolnshire Wolds or taking day trips to Lincolnshire's small market towns like Alford, where there's also a war museum and a theatre. Bargain hunters should also get along to one of Lincolnshire's many car boot sales, at Ingoldmells, Skegness and Mablethorpe on the coast and inland at Louth, Horncastle, Gainsborough and Hornbeach.
