Paddock two sheltered by mature hedges
Sept rally 2022

  • Friendly, family-run farm site within 15 minutes' drive of beaches
  • A 15-minute drive from Louth market town; half an hour from Skegness
  • On the main bus route from Lincoln to Mablethorpe (via Louth)
Based in the pretty rural village of South Reston near Louth, Holme Lea makes a handy base for exploring the beaches and wolds of lovely Lincolnshire. Welcoming families and (well-behaved) canines, pitches are scattered across a four-acre site that's neatly divided into two well-maintained and level grass paddocks sheltered by high hedges. This is a handy spot to stay in if you want to ditch the car – Holme Lea sits at the foot of the gorgeous Lincolnshire Wolds, with abundant cycle and walking routes to try out. The local village of South Reston is on a main bus route too, so you can catch regular services to Louth and Lincoln, or seaside towns including Mablethorpe (15 minutes’ drive) and Skegness (half an hour). The village also has a popular local pub, which you can walk to in five minutes; as well as serving a decent pint, it has a small essentials shop if you happen to run out of supplies. For those who want to fish, there are also fisheries within five minutes' drive of the site. Simple on-site facilities include a toilet block, emptying point and various drinking water points around the pitches. There's also a shower room (with sink, toilet and shower) available for a small extra charge.

What customers say

Holme Lea Farm Campsite boasts a welcoming, family-run vibe with spacious, well-kept sites. Guests love the friendly owners, clean facilities, and kid-friendly play areas. Great for exploring, with a bus stop handy. It's a no-frills, great-value spot, though a few wish for more showers/restrooms.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Everywhere was extremely well maintained and very clean, even down to the porta loos that were extra to the toilet block.
Wardens/owners are friendly and very helpful.
Lovely quiet site that caters for children with a small play area and ball games allowed in the bigger field.

Disliked Only one shower as far as I could see (there may have been another one in the men’s toilet?) but I would imagine when the site is at capacity, there would be a long queue. The shower room was very clean though.

From the manager: Hi

Thank you very much for your review. Pleased you enjoyed your stay. We do have one shower room, albeit a quality rather than quantity. We do state on Pitchup that there is only one shower on site. A lot of our guests have their own facilities in their caravans or motorhomes.

It would only be on main bank holidays when there is likely to be more tents that there may be a short wait at peak times. If we were to invest in more showers and facilities it would mean we would have to charge significantly more per night than £22. We are constantly monitoring the situation however.

Regards Louise

Well kept site with level pitches and friendly owners.

Liked Nice flat site, plenty of pitch space. Just one female toilet. For me wasn't an issue as the site was quiet. Shower was lovely. Washing up area is outside, no hot water but you boil a kettle. Owners were friendly and helpful.

Disliked Being very close to a main road so there is traffic noise.

From the manager: Hi

Many thanks for your review. We do have one ladies toilet plus toilet in the shower room. As most caravans and motor homes have their own facilities that is sufficient for tent users. Somewhat puzzled by road noise comment. There is a long entrance from the road through to the camping paddocks. We have two paddocks one leading to the other four acres in total. As you can choose your pitch you could have gone into the rear paddock if you wished. We have never had a comment about road noise in any previous reviews. I can only assume as the site is quiet and peaceful you can hear traffic in the distance but it is not very close to the main road.

We are continuing to update and improve where possible whilst trying to keep pitch fees as reasonable as possible. We do have a sun canopy if very hot for the washing up area.

From the manager: Hi

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are pleased you and your children enjoyed your weekend.

We do have things in mind which we would like to do moving forward and thank you for your suggestions. Without raising pitch fees substantially these are not within our budget at the moment unfortunately.

Disliked Only one ladies toilet

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi

Many thanks for leaving a review. We do actually have an extra toilet in the shower room. We would like to update the toilet block in the future and will of course add another. The vast majority of the season one ladies is sufficient, however on busy holiday weekends there may be a short wait. For bank holiday we will add a rent a loo for the weekend.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked On arrival we were met by an elderly gentleman who helped us to a pick our pitch and also asked if we needed any thing as he going in town . Turned out he wasn't the owner just a regular camper who helps out.
The owners did come out to see us and also offered to help with pitching up our tent .
So from the start we knew this was going to be a good site . The owners are very helpful and pleasant and certainly make you feel welcome.
The site was well maintained , toilets are ok and the seprate shower room was very nice.
Imo its got all you need for good camping trip away from home .
All in I can't fault this site we enjoyed it so much we're planning on staying again for 7 nights instead of just 3 nights .

Disliked Nothing to dislike .
