  • Small, peaceful farm site with fishing on the England/Wales border
  • A 10-minute drive from the Forest of Dean; 30 minutes to a Go Ape site
  • Cycle hire 15 minutes' drive; bar and café on site
Settle in for an afternoon's fishing and look out for wildlife like deer, rabbits and birds, all in a lovely Welsh/English border locale among old oak trees and Neolithic stones… welcome to Broadstone Park. This is a small, peaceful and family-run site between the market towns of Monmouth and Coleford, named after those Neolithic stones and in an area with plenty of options for walking, cycling and other outdoorsy activities. Indeed, the site is well-liked among the mountain biking community. Set yourself up for a day of pedalling at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre, 15 minutes' drive away, or a day of family-friendly activities at Puzzlewood, 10 minutes' drive away. Back at base, there is a small spring-fed coarse fishery for guests' use, stocked with carp, rudd, perch and bream and open daily from dawn to dusk. There's also a bar and a café on site for easy refreshments. Other facilities at Broadstone Park include a toilet and shower block.

Liked Fantastic site, really liked how much space each pitch was. The hosts were great too. The cafe and pizza bar were lovely and the prices were brilliant. Also liked that you only pay for the electricity you use and not a upfront price.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Beautiful picturesque site, lovely food too some of the best pizza I’ve tasted outside Italy. Easy choices of quiet solitary peace and or chance to chat with other campers. All at your own pace.

Disliked Showers could have been a bit cleaner, but with a few other guest, any number or reasons why not so good

Power optional grass campsite

Liked We have been coming here every year now for 8 years, now with our two children. We love it so much each year we meet our friends and are kids there every year too! We are always greeted warmly, just love the site owners and location - we love taking the kids fishing, going on Forest walk, taking the canoes to the river and having a firepit/smokes each night! Our kids look forward to it every year, as do we.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Quiet and relaxing site, lovely setting, loved the fact that there is a bar on site. Plenty to wander round and see, a few animals and ducks and chicken out and about by the fishing lakes. Close to Forest of Dean, and on the border of Wales, so easy to venture there too.

Disliked Washing up sink area too small to service the whole camp. (And the sink itself is tiny) . But good to have such hot water for washing up pots n pans.
Bit of road noise , you won’t get silence very often ….but that’s to be expected with such easy access.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Beautiful camping fields with lovely old oak trees, loads of space so you never felt you were encroaching on other campers. Campfires off the ground were allowed so it was lovely in the evening to get a fire going along with other campers and sit out looking at the stars. Campsite asks that you burn their fuel only, but it’s a reasonable request at £6 a bag which keeps you going all evening, lights easily, burns hot and leaves minimal ash. We booked as two separate bookings last minute in August and asked if we could be accommodated close to each other and were given a pitch right next to each other. Toilets and showers, 4 of each for men and women, wash up area with 1 sink and 2 dishwashers (pay by card), toilet disposal, bins. The small play park was fun for kids up to about 6 yrs. plenty of room for kids to ride bikes/ play outdoor games. Small cafe/bar did excellent homemade pizzas very reasonably priced and 2 very pretty fishing ponds (£7.50 for a 12 hour day ticket). Friendly, helpful staff, easy to find.
The area is amazing with the Forest of Dean bike centre only 10 mins away- well worth a visit- cycle trails for every age and ability. Puzzlewood is also very close, as is tintern abbey, and further woodland trails and go ape nearby, clearwell caves.. there’s just so much to do within 20 minutes of this campsite- well worth can’t wait to come back. Amazing value for money- no added costs, £25 a night for up to 4 of us and a dog in August!!

Local attractions

Straight from the rear of the site are several woodland walks, one of which takes guests past the Broad Stone, after which Broadstone Park was named. Others cover part of Offa's Dyke and walks to Monmouth, the River Wye and local viewpoints like famed Symonds Yat: ask the site team for their faves to follow. Also in the area are heritage options like Caldicot Castle and the Clearwell Caves, and the buildings and pleasure grounds of the Kymin, highly praised by one Admiral Nelson (take the trek up to the Round House for the best views). Many other walks, cycle paths and swinging around in the trees at Go Ape are in the Forest of Dean, half an hour's drive away, and both Monmouth and Coleford are around 15 minutes' drive away for more urbanised days out.
