  • Peaceful and sheltered adults-only site on a working farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Buxton; Bakewell 20 minutes
  • A few minutes' walk from a traditional country pub and the river Dove
Small in size but big on views – that’s the fine mix on offer at Crowdecote Campsite, an adults-only farm site in the Peak District National Park near the little village of Crowdecote. Green fields, trees and hills are all around at this quiet Derbyshire site, and local beauty spots like the river Dove, Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill are all within comfortable walking distance. Facilities on site are low-key so as not to detract from these peaceful surrounds, but essentials like a toilet, shower, running water and chemical disposal are all provided (the shower has hot water but please note there's no hot water elsewhere). This rural spot is also home to a herd of friendly cattle and their pygmy goat pals Kenny and Dave, all of whom can be seen in fields by the site. Dogs are welcome here, but please keep them on a lead and under control – this is a working farm, after all. Firepits are also welcome, and firewood is available to purchase on site. You'll need to keep all fires/barbecues in a steel container that's raised off the ground (please don't light fires on the ground or try to construct a firepit out of stones). Looking for something to make that view even nicer? A friendly country pub is a short walk away and a handy local bus service to Buxton and Ashbourne stops just opposite the pub, so you won't necessarily need a car for local hill walks (and you can also head straight out to Dragon's Back or Chrome Hill on a footpath from the site). The next village over is Longor (just over a mile away), where there's a café, bar and well-liked local chip shop.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Lovely and peaceful adults only site. Facilities great as a greener club site. Fires were allowed (if raised). Stephen the site owner was very friendly. Some great walks in the vicinity.

Disliked: Nothing - suited us for the price point and would highly recommend.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (maximum 7 metres)

Liked: Really lovely site, quiet as no children allowed….perfect for those of us that work in education and are around children 40 hours a week. Clean, well kept, dog friendly and nice to see recently planted trees too to add to existing mature ones. Heard and identified about 20 different birds in a few minutes on the Merlin app.
Did the walk to Pilsbury Castle along the Dove Valley.
Pub in walking distance and a couple of others nearby just a bit further away. Planning on going back this August

Disliked: Shower running hot and cold. I followed instructions as requested, fine for two days, third day the shower was playing silly buggers. Not a huge issue though

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (maximum 7 metres)

Liked: A nice welcome. Good straightforward pitch. Taps with fresh water at gate and walks to nearby amenities. Toilets and showers are very basic.

Disliked: Toilets and showers clean but not spotless (rustic), bathmats had pink bacteria "Serratia Marcescens"...not ideal, some bleach or vinegar would clean it easily 🙂. Also was bank holiday so nearest pub was closed

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Camp site was beautiful , lovely scenery , toilets and showers was clean and hot water was brilliant . It’s definitely upgraded from the negative reviews of this people had complained about showers and no hot water at the washing station but it seemed to supply all
Of that, owner is very friendly and has garage with. Wood and logs to purchase , we needed some hammers to hammer the tent down and he kindly let us use it, it’s in a fab location and small and friendly , lively and quiet too we will be returning 🫶🏼 value for money is amazing hopefully they don’t increase prices as it’s what makes it even better

Disliked: Nothing!
