Liked On the positive side, the dog walk was excellent and probably the highlight of the stay. It starts with a lovely large mown field and continues into a newly planted woodland area full of rabbits — we even spotted a deer. There is also access to a public footpath walk, although unfortunately the heat meant we couldn’t explore it as much as we would have liked.
Disliked The pitches were not particularly flat, and some grass pitches were more difficult to level properly.
The site felt quite cramped at times, with outfits positioned very close together. There didn’t seem to be much pitch etiquette in place, although a cut-through halfway along the site to the toilet block would probably help reduce people walking through pitches.
The facilities block was generally clean and included a campers’ kitchen plus male and female changing areas.
The showers were powerful and hot once adjusted, although the cubicles were very small, meaning you had to endure a blast of cold water while turning the dial to warm. The cubicles were also quite narrow — I overheard another camper joking they had to go in sideways.
There was no drive-over motorhome service point, which was disappointing for a site catering to motorhomes.
We also felt the extra charge for a car, on top of fees for dogs and an awning, was a little hard to justify considering the overall layout and lack of space between pitches

Power optional gravel caravan site
Liked Great sized pitches with well kept grounds.
The family that run this site as so friendly and make the time to talk to you and feel welcome.
The walking opportunity from here will keep you busy for a while.
The site has only recently been acquired by the owners and they are making it look and feel loved.
I don't know if there was any wifi but we didn't need it as we hot spotted from our mobile phones.
I have not given 10 stars for location because there isn't any convenience stores local enough for those who can't walk far.
Disliked Not really a dislike but no shower block / campers kitchen but that's controversial given most of us have our own facilities.

From the manager: Hi thanks for your review. I am glad you enjoyed the open fields and the local facilities. I do have to charge £20 to cover the cost of cleaning the portaloos and stocking them with soap and toilet rolls. I also have to pay wages for the field to be mowed regularly, elsan point to be emptied weekly and remove the rubbish from the bins provided. I am sorry you feel it was too much money but I have kept it £20 for the last 5 years and do not charge extra for gazebos, dogs, visitors or extra cars to keep costs down for campers.
