Good base for exploring

Sept 2026

Liked Warm welcome. Clean toilets and showers. Good dog walks direct from site. Bus or walk into Stratford-upon-Avon or to Wellford-upon-Avon in the other direction for pubs. Cafe at Antique centre next door. Good 5g signal and TV reception OK.

Disliked Majority of pitches are on a slope. If adjacent pitches to water taps are occupied it may not be easy for onboard water or grey waste tanks for motorhomes. No dog waste bins in the dog walking area.

Great base for walking

Jul 2026

Liked Very friendly welcome with guide to local amenities. Feels remote with spectacular scenery, but only 10 minutes from Buxton. Great base for walking around the area or heading onto the Tissington Trail. No TV, phone or wifi signals for a technology detox so take a book!

Disliked Pitches are quite steep so take big ramps.

Great base for exploring the area

Jul 2026

Liked Lovely quiet site with large level pitches. TV signal is good, phone signal intermittent and WiFi at the bar in the house. Kitchen and 2x showers next to pitches and toilet block other side of Glampsite on the way to the bar at the rear of the house. Bar has aircon, which wad a blessing in 30 degree heat, and large TV. There's a water tap behind one of the pitches (No3) or, for motorhomes, one on the wall by the kitchen/showers.

Disliked Gravel driveway between pitches was noisy when driven or walked on and someone left site each day in a van around 5:30am. Some aircraft noise from being on Gatwick approach. No drive over grey waste disposal grid for onboard tanks.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful setting, spacious level pitches, and the facilities on site. It's great to know that the bar provided a welcome escape from the heat and that you found the practical information around the site helpful during your stay. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the gravel driveway, early morning vehicle movements, aircraft noise, and motorhome waste disposal facilities. Comments like these are valuable as we continue to look for ways to improve the experience for our guests. Thank you for your recommendation, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Great no hassle site for exploring the area

May 2026

Liked Generally level pitches with water and power post between each two. Grey waste drain in the corner too. Open aspects across the farm it is attached to. Good TV and phone reception and free WiFi. Modern toilet blocks which were clean. Cycle path follows the steam railway line into Caernarfon about 25min walk. Steam train runs most days but is expensive at £58.50 per adult return to Beddgelert and then only just over an hour there. Caernarfon Castle is spectacular but the town itself is tired. Nice dog friendly garden centre 10 minutes walk the other direction too.

Remote getaway

Sept 2025

Liked A remote location to get too (plus ferry from Tarbert) but worth it. Flat site with views across the loch. Use of all the Hotel / Marina facilities which were first class. Dog friendly bar / restaurant (geordi barman was great). We sat in the mezzanine and ate pizza from the takeaway menu with some drinks.

Disliked Chemical waste access lid was high up

Great stopover a stones throw from Port Ness

Sept 2025

Liked Good spaced pitches and sheltered from winds (we had 60mph). New, clean welfarefacilities on site. Best WiFi we've ever had at a campsite for uninterrupted streaming (telly even did all it's updates too) - the password is at the bottom of the Accessibility document. Nice moorland views.

Sept 2025

Liked Booked in the morning and arrived in the afternoon. Very welcoming host and offered any available reserved pitch. All fairly level with power closeby. Motorhome service point available. 10 minute walk to the village centre. New playground opposite and waterfall walk 45 minutes from site.

Disliked Some pitches are close to the main road.

Great base for visiting Lincolnshire

Aug 2025

Liked Loads of space on the grass Touring field without electric. 4 water points and Elsan in the field. Grey waste is advised to let trickle onto the ground. Good TV reception. A 20 minute walk to the nearest pub. 45 minute walk to Doddington Hall on a path through fields behind the village playground. Harby has a tarmac cycle path all the way in to Lincoln.

Disliked Shower / toilet combined cubicles and a bit tired inside. The water points in the middle of the field are not very visible so care needed not to accidentally drive in to them.

Nice site but other town's are nicer

Jun 2025

Liked Large pitches on a busy and diverse site. Washroom facilities were good. Needed a French adapter for power.

Disliked In a residential area up hill from the town/sea front, which itself was a bit drab and disappointing.

Great central campsite with modern facilities.

Jun 2025

Liked Modern site with good facilities (loo roll provided). Hardstanding pitches with grassed area and hedging and many trees for shade. Motorhome service point available. Free WiFi. Food van available on some day's. Retail sites just over the road too. Great location for walking to the central tourist sites along a riverside path (ignore the first sign to go roadside) and the river takes you to the back of the Cathedral. Oasis Bar opposite the cross-stitch is good for those who don't want to see it!

Lovely quiet location

Jun 2025

Liked Very welcoming reception. Good, but old, washroom facilities. Drive over motorhome service point. Standard blue electric (polarity reversed on our pitch). Level grass pitches. About an hour's level walk through fields/cycle path to the town centre.

Disliked Access road to pitches quite narrow for manoeuvring in.

Lively site, with good waks

Apr 2025

Liked Great site for a walking base with miles of beach/coastal paths on the doorstep. We had a grass pitch which was a choice of anywhere on two flat fields divided by seasonal caravans. Modern shower block with all in one cubicles. The local village has a chippy, Londis, post office and two pubs. The adjacent campsite has a Ski bar open to all. Drive-over motorhome service point behind the shower block. Several site roads have just been resurfaced with tarmac. We walked up to Silecroft 4.5 miles up the beach where there is a very good Sunset cafe for lunch.

Disliked No WiFi and poor TV reception.

Secluded location for peaceful break

Mar 2025

Liked Warm welcome and escorted to the pitch to explain the site facilities. Had some catering on site but didn't visit. Secluded location but 10 minute walk from the train station with only one stop to Battle village or a couple of stops the other way to Hastings. Hastings old town is worth a visit.

Disliked No TV signal and weak WiFi prevented streaming. Poor phone signal too.

A bit dated in places

Mar 2025

Liked Warm welcome and good reception shop which is also attached to the Galleon cafe bar which was above expectations. Morrisons convenience store 2 minutes walk. Good TV and phone signals, WiFi was weak. South Hayling itself was a little tired but passenger ferry over to Portsmouth worthwhile. An hour's walk to the ferry (5 minute ride) then get the 25 bus to Hard Interchange (40 minute ride) where all the Navy stuff is and shopping village. 2 hour walk along the esplanade back to the ferry.

Disliked Toilets and shower blocks dated and unheated. Two motorhome service points but for grey waste you need to lift a manhole cover.

Great facilities for touring

Mar 2025

Liked Very professionally run with a warm welcome. Facilities all freshened up for the season. 24 hr vending of all the essentials and a farm shop (plus essentials) and cafe opposite the entrance. Visiting fish & chips to the village each Wednesday worth a visit. Kings Arms very welcoming and dog friendly but limited menu. Good WiFi and phone signals but poor TV. Good walk up to Hardy's Monument for spectacular views.

Great value friendly site

Dec 2024

Liked Very warm welcome by the wardens who explained everything about our stay. We just topped up £5 for 2 nights electric which was just enough as we had gas cooker and diesel heater. Very clean shower block and well organised recycling. Motorhome service point at the bottom with drive over grey waste. Open field with a gravel area for dog walk but we just headed along the adjacent lane to the canal. Nice 40min walk to the centre of Retford along the canal with the usual town centre amenities. 15 minutes walk to the village shop and pub along the main road (with footpath).

Great base for the area

Oct 2024

Liked Welcoming hosts. Modern all in one bathrooms. Water and power at level pitches. Drive over grid available for motorhome grey waste. Elsan should be green. Free WiFi only advertised from the bar (labelled as Sky) but we got a good reception on the far side of the site. Good TV reception but mobile was hit & miss. The dog friendly bar was much larger than expected and really cosy with friendly service. Pie and peas on Friday was great value. Pub 200yds down the road was dog friendly and served food. 10 minutes walk to the beach at Mappleton and then hour or so walk up to Hornsea * be careful of the tides *.

Great relaxing site.

Sept 2024

Liked Received a warm welcome with explanation of facilities. Tourers toilet block is new and luxurious. Good phone signal and site WiFi. TV aerial cable provided to each pitch along with water and electric. Pitches are level and well spaced. Great dog walk spaces. Nidderdale way runs through the site and a path direct to Patley Bridge along the river closeby. Nice pub just along the road but closed Mon & Tues.

Disliked Not a lot in Patley Bridge itself.
