  • Scenic family-friendly site in the stunning Scottish Borders
  • Jedburgh, Galashiels within 30 mins' drive; Edinburgh within an hour
  • Golf course, putting green, bar-restaurant, playground, woodland walks
Craving spectacular scenery and a peaceful stay far from the edge of nowhere? Head along to Lilliardsedge Holiday Park, a family-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from the Scottish town of Jedburgh and 25 from the shops and restaurants of Galashiels. At Lilliardsedge, there’s more than 100 acres of scenic Scottish Borders to explore on site, with grassy fields and natural woodland walks giving guests plenty of ground to cover, and a nine-hole golf course and 18-hole putting green enticing budding Ryder Cup players to take in the views from the links. Of course, it’s very much worth going on some broader explores hereabouts to make the absolute most of that stunning Borders country – wander off site to stroll around nearby lochs or pick up the 62-mile St Cuthbert’s Way long-distance route just five minutes away for viewsome rambles through the region. Stay energised for all this adventuring and club swinging by calling in to the Tavern (the onsite bar-restaurant) for lunch, dinner and Sunday carvery, or to have a few quiet (locally brewed) pints, and stick around on weekend nights for bands, bingo, karaoke and pub quizzes.

Unpowered grass tent site (four person)

Liked The campsite had a good family feel to it. Everyone was respectful of each other. The grass was well kept and it was tidy. The views are stunning too.
The kids loved the play park and bouncy castles and the food was delicious from The Tavern and also the takeaway trucks

Unpowered grass tent site (six person)

Liked The area, the scenary, the facilities on site, everything about the site was wonderful for families

Disliked There is no on site camp security patrolling, which means our weekend was ruined by a group of people who decided it was socially acceptable, in a field full of familes, to stay awake all night talking loudly and playing music. When i emailed the camp to complain I heard nothing back and still am yet to hear anything back.
These sorts of groups should not be allowed on a family campsite, and a patrol should be in action to quieten down groups like these or even kick them off site.

Unpowered grass tent site (two person)

Liked .

Disliked Toilets have become run down including the showers. We have used this site several times over the last few years. Booked a weekend at the site and discovered on arrival once paid etc that they were setting up for a festival linked to the campsite. It was horrendously noisy all of Friday and Saturday with driving 6ft metal poles into the ground for a huge event tent/structure. When we asked about it on Friday we were upset that nobody thought to inform campers who booked in advance. They brushed off our concerns saying the noise would only be for few hours on the friday. If went on til about 8pm Fri and started up again at 750am Saturday lasting all day again. They did work again on the Sunday but thankfully the main structure was up so this was less painful to the ears.

This ruined what was meant to be a relaxing weekend away.

Unpowered grass tent site (four person)

Liked Clean showers and toilets, nice view on first day

Disliked When we arrived we were told there would be lots of “comings and goings” on the field alongside the tent ground for a music festival. We weren’t warned that a metal fence would be erected to obscure the views and that Saturday would be marred by pile driver noise. I looked on the site as if I was making a new booking and there was no mention of the disruption which was really unfair.

Local attractions

Think of Scotland and you likely think of (among other things) castles, whiskey and golf. The latter is nicely provided on site, but there can never be too much of a good thing... Perfect that swing on a handful of courses within easy reach, including one in the village of St Boswells, 10 minutes’ drive from the site. This part of the country should also satisfy even the most ardent castle fans too (as long as they remember to check opening dates): the 16th-century Ferniehirst is 15 minutes away; Scotland’s largest inhabited Castle, Floors, is 25 minutes from base; and the former love nest of Mary Queen of Scots and the fourth Earl of Bothwell, Hermitage Castle, is reachable in less than an hour. Those keen to stay in the past should have a poke around the ruins of Melrose and Jedburgh abbeys, both within 20 minutes, or stick to statelier affairs at Abbotsford and Monteviot within the same radius. Active types might prefer to opt for wanders around Harestanes (10 minutes) or swing through the trees at Go Ape Peebles and pedal down precipitous slopes at the 7stanes trails at Glentress, both 50 minutes away. Gin quaffers will want to pour themselves over to the Born in the Borders visitor centre 25 minutes from base but, when it comes to the uisge beatha (that’s the water of life, or whiskey for all the non-Gaelic speakers), a trip to Edinburgh comes highly recommended for tours of the whiskey museum (plus more museums, castles and shops, of course).
