Liked Fantastic park, I’ve drive past so many times over the years but never looked into booking ms it was only by chance after we were let down at another park we came across this establishment, we will defo be booking up again especially after the new kids park is completed but even though hats off for supplying a bouncy castle and inflatable slide for the kids in the meantime, we knew our son loved his time here when we came for the carvery, he’s 4 and first time in a long time we watched our little boy trying to eat his dinner and stay awake at the same time!! Brilliant venue.

Unpowered grass tent site (four person)

Liked Lovely park was lovely and peaceful when we arrived on the Friday. Facilities good and lovely bar with friendly staff.

Disliked By the second evening (Saturday) the park had got very busy and as we were out most of morning and afternoon by time we got back we were shocked to find we had been swamped by a huge tent planked right beside ours, probably too close but I didn’t complain.
By the Sunday morning the showers and toilets were very bad and in need of urgent cleaning, no toilet paper etc and people generally making a mess and leaving etc.

What customers say

Spacious sites, amazing views, and great facilities (bar, restaurant, shop). Friendly staff are a highlight. Showers usually spotless, but can be a bit hit-and-miss with temp/pressure during busy times. Unallocated pitches can get crowded and noisy, but improvements are underway.

Unpowered grass tent site (two person)

Liked This campsite is our go to, not pricey, nice camping ground, has a shop and restaurant and a lot of things but this May bank holiday was really2 full and was left with a sloped pitch to put on our tent. The pitches are not organised at all, there are motorhomes and campervans just everywhere. The camp groung is huge, they could've at least organised it with diff types of campers and separate family campings to adults only area and group campers, it was all over the place. The worse is the toilet, warm water not working at all, only 3 out of 5 toilet cubicle is working on a full packed bank holiday. The shower is ridiculous, will come back but never on bank holidays or busy days and surely not for long camping.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Able to choose own pitch/area in camping field. Great views. Warm showers with good pressure

Disliked There is a no fire policy however the tents next to our campervan had a shared fire pit that they were feeding with empty beer and cider boxes, the campsite security passed on more than one occasion but nothing was said. The next morning we noticed our windbreak had several melted patches. There are not enough toilets and showers for the camp field when it is busy. There was also no toilet paper from 8am to when we left at 11am. The campsite doesn’t have any grey waste facilities

Local attractions

Think of Scotland and you likely think of (among other things) castles, whiskey and golf. The latter is nicely provided on site, but there can never be too much of a good thing... Perfect that swing on a handful of courses within easy reach, including one in the village of St Boswells, 10 minutes’ drive from the site. This part of the country should also satisfy even the most ardent castle fans too (as long as they remember to check opening dates): the 16th-century Ferniehirst is 15 minutes away; Scotland’s largest inhabited Castle, Floors, is 25 minutes from base; and the former love nest of Mary Queen of Scots and the fourth Earl of Bothwell, Hermitage Castle, is reachable in less than an hour. Those keen to stay in the past should have a poke around the ruins of Melrose and Jedburgh abbeys, both within 20 minutes, or stick to statelier affairs at Abbotsford and Monteviot within the same radius. Active types might prefer to opt for wanders around Harestanes (10 minutes) or swing through the trees at Go Ape Peebles and pedal down precipitous slopes at the 7stanes trails at Glentress, both 50 minutes away. Gin quaffers will want to pour themselves over to the Born in the Borders visitor centre 25 minutes from base but, when it comes to the uisge beatha (that’s the water of life, or whisky for all the non-Gaelic speakers), a trip to Edinburgh comes highly recommended for tours of the whisky museum (plus more museums, castles and shops, of course).
