Middle Ground unpowered concrete and grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely small campsite, perfect for what we needed. Nice flat field which is well laid out with plenty of room between pitches. Access to a river is 2 minutes away, we went for a nice evening swim. Facilities were clean and suitable for the size and number of people, and little touches like washing up liquid and bowls were nice.
Owners took time to come round and talk to you and say hi and help were required.

Disliked Nothing.

Middle Ground unpowered concrete and grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked EVERYTHING!!
Such a fabulous place. Self contained toilet/shower units with good pressure and hot. Spotlessly clean. Lovely washing up area with washing liquid and tea towels supplied. Recycling and food waste area. Communal area where you can charge phones etc. You could pitch where you liked in a lovely field where barn swallow swooped, dragonflies hovered and at night, Tawney owls hooted. Lots of farm animals which you can pet. Pigs, ducks, chickens, horses and donkeys. River where you can swim or go kayaking ( free). Nature reserves in walking distance. Owners Bethan and Karl there to greet you and popped round to say hello every day and even gave us home grown veg.
We really didn't want to leave.

Middle Ground unpowered concrete and grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked We had such a wonderful stay here a couple of weekends ago. Bethan and Karl were truly lovely hosts who were so kind, welcoming and helpful. They are genuinely wonderful people, and we wish them all the best.

The campsite itself is beautiful, nestled beside a nature reserve and to my daughter's delight, there are lots of farm animals on site. We were so grateful that we were able to have a late check in, and a late check out which meant on both sides of the visit we never felt stressed or rushed to arrive or depart, which made the visit even more relaxing.

The field is really well laid out with plenty of space between tents and vans, and you can choose your own pitch. The wheelbarrows provided made moving our things super easy too. Fire pits and everything you need to get a fire going are brought to your pitch, & the fire was such a highlight in the evenings. It's a fantastic addition to camping and the perfect way to end the day.

The facilities were excellent, spotless toilets with hot high-pressure showers, drinking water on tap, a large washing up area and a seating area with games. & there is so much to do in the area, we barely scratched the surface. It's a fantastic base for outdoor activities, there's plenty of sights to see, attractions and beaches in driving distance.

It's the best campsite we have ever visited, and we can't wait to return.

Disliked We didn't dislike anything, but for people reading reviews to get more information before booking, we had two mobile phones, one on 3 mobile, one on Vodaphone. 3 mobile was really intermittent here and in local areas, but Vodafone was fine. If it's important to you to stay connected, consider swapping from 3 to Vodafone (or I believe EE has good coverage here too) or bring an extra device on the better networks to hotspot :) For us it wasn't an issue but I know for some it might be.

Middle Ground unpowered concrete and grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked We loved everything about this campsite, the owners are so friendly and helpful. Carl went out of his way to come and help with a leaking gas issue in my van. It's a very beautiful spot, peaceful, many mature oak trees surrounding the field, the facilities are clean, stylish and simple, the pitches are spacious. I'll be back x

Local attractions

If you need to get your bearings, a good place to start is at the Avalon Marshes Visitor Centre (five minutes’ walk) – there’s a café here too, so you can plan your walks over a cup of coffee. Beyond your immediate surroundings, there’s plenty more to see – perhaps beginning with an outing to Glastonbury (10 minutes’ drive/half an hour’s cycle) to stroll through the town and visit the abbey and the tor. Wells (20 minutes’ drive) is another urban centre that’s worth a wander, particularly if you stop in at Europe’s first Gothic-style cathedral. For outdoor days, go for a hike around Cheddar Gorge (20 minutes) or hit the beach in Burnham-on-Sea (20 minutes). The West Somerset Railway (45 minutes) is a good option if you fancy seeing some of the scenery at a leisurely pace. Other ways to fill your days? Well, maybe delving into the caves at Wookey Hole (20 minutes), visiting Europe’s largest naval aviation collection at Fleet Air Arm Museum (half an hour) or checking out the stately home and safari park at Longleat (50 minutes)…
