  • Central Dorset touring park with easy access from the A350
  • Poole, Sandbanks and Jurassic Coast within a half-hour drive
  • Spacious pitches with access to lakeside walks for wildlife spotting
Picking a pitch in central Dorset is a wise choice for a holiday, as it gives you easy access to all sorts of days out, whether you’re aiming for country walks, adventure activities, family days out or trips to the gorgeous coves of the Jurassic Coast. One such spot is Dorset Springs, a gorgeous location among paddocks, meadows and lakes on the outskirts of Sturminster Marshall. With easy access from the A350 and various amenities (including a convenience store, pub and farm shop/café) within a few minutes’ walk, it’s a handy location indeed for family holidays or stopovers on a longer journey (such as those down to the ferries in Poole, 15 minutes’ drive away). This isn’t just a handily located site, though – it’s also a most attractive one, surrounded by fields grazed by sheep and with access to lakeside walks where you can look out for wildlife (please note that children will need to be supervised around the unfenced lakes, and fishing is not permitted). Pitches are spacious enough for you to set them up just how you like, and you’re welcome to bring your dog along for the trip too (as long as they’re kept under control). The site is designed mainly for touring vehicles that are self-contained, but it does have some simple facilities including a toilet, a washing-up area and a water tap, along with a chemical disposal point. There’s also a play area to help you keep the kids entertained.

What customers say

Peaceful spot, stunning views, roomy pitches. Immaculate grounds, calm lake, friendly vibe. But, basic loo & pricey £5 shower a letdown for many. Some found pitches hot & short on bins.

Liked Nice wildlife ponds. A small area with swings and a tiny slide for children to play.

Disliked Unfortunately there were a few issues when we arrived we weren't expected as the owner hadn't checked their e-mail. After gaining entry we were not given any information and when I contacted them later on at 8.40pm to ask how to gain access to the toilet and showers as I had just driven for six hours and really wanted a shower the owner said he couldn't get a key to me that evening (in spite of being on site). When I asked if I could get one in the morning at 07.00, as we had a morning appointment to get to he said 'Not a chance. Not on your life'

I am used to camping in Europe where on arrival you are greeted properly by owners who are welcoming and show you common courtesy. This attitude made us feel like we were an inconvenience. When we finally did get a shower key around lunchtime the next day I was given a lecture about how important it was to leave it clean and tidy, etc. However nicely decorated the showers were they really didn't need to be kept locked. It turned out that the bathroom sink was blocked and couldn't drain and the shower flooded the whole bathroom.

Liked Friendly hosts on arrival. Hardstanding pitches were well designed. Wide open location with walks around the lake. The shower cubicle was modern. Gated with entry code so felt secure.

Disliked Having to pay £5 per 24 hours for the key to the only shower on site. No convenient bins around the location.

Liked Very peaceful

Disliked Everything else ….only one toilet (horrible)
£5 for shower per day !!!
And then told that as we have our own shower onboard we should use it and that the shower was for campervans that did not have a shower

Liked Quiet site and good location with easy safe access to National Cycle route and Wimborne Minster.

Disliked We were under the impression that there were toilets and showers(chargabe) available but the single toilet was in what looked like a shed that had seen better days and the showers were locked for our whole stay. Another camper told us that when he asked to use the showers he was told they were only opened for those that didnt have their own onboard facilities.
