Picking a pitch in central Dorset is a wise choice for a holiday, as it gives you easy access to all sorts of days out, whether you’re aiming for country walks, adventure activities, family days out or trips to the gorgeous coves of the Jurassic Coast. One such spot is Dorset Springs, a gorgeous location among paddocks, meadows and lakes on the outskirts of Sturminster Marshall. With easy access from the A350 and various amenities (including a convenience store, pub and farm shop/café) within a few minutes’ walk, it’s a handy location indeed for family holidays or stopovers on a longer journey (such as those down to the ferries in Poole, 15 minutes’ drive away). This isn’t just a handily located site, though – it’s also a most attractive one, surrounded by fields grazed by sheep and with access to lakeside walks where you can look out for wildlife (please note that children will need to be supervised around the unfenced lakes, and fishing is not permitted). Pitches are spacious enough for you to set them up just how you like, and you’re welcome to bring your dog along for the trip too (as long as they’re kept under control). The site is designed mainly for touring vehicles that are self-contained, but it does have some simple facilities including a toilet, a shower (for a small additional fee per day), a washing-up area and a water tap, along with a chemical disposal point. There’s also a play area to help you keep the kids entertained.

  • Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Beautiful views & peaceful vibe, with roomy spots and local critters. Grounds are spick and span. But, a single, basic loo and a £5 shower fee are a bummer for some. Great for many, but the cost of showering/toileting is a common grumble.

Liked Friendly hosts on arrival. Hardstanding pitches were well designed. Wide open location with walks around the lake. The shower cubicle was modern. Gated with entry code so felt secure.

Disliked Having to pay £5 per 24 hours for the key to the only shower on site. No convenient bins around the location.

Liked Beautiful setting and feels very secure . It is set in generous grounds and could be considered destination in itself . This is an exceptional CL.

Disliked Everything else ….only one toilet (horrible)
£5 for shower per day !!!
And then told that as we have our own shower onboard we should use it and that the shower was for campervans that did not have a shower

Liked We found the site quiet and well maintained grounds.

Disliked Toilet wasn't very nice, needs updating. No option to pay for the shower online, I had to text the site owner and organise it through her which was an inconvenience for us both.

Liked Perfect quiet and peaceful stop to explore Wimborne minster and Kingston lacy. Lovely sitting admiring the lake with wild geese and ducks. We loved the resident chicken Omlet who greeted us daily and kept us company. Site laid out well and kept pristine with plenty of space. No showers but we are happy to use our onboard facilities. Would definitely visit again!

Liked Idyllic, quiet site alongside beautiful lakes. Very secure behind gates and some distance from the road so very little traffic noise. Grounds and lawns are immaculate. Only stopped one night to have work done on MH by nearby Hillview Awnings.
