For a sweet-as break on a working farm, head to family-friendly Treacle Valley Campsite in the tiny village of Daccombe, between Dartmoor National Park to the west and more than 20 English Riviera beaches towards the east. This is a top spot for all ages: kids will be kept occupied at the play area or on all the wide open space around the accommodation area, and walks to the village through the surrounding countryside start right from the pitches. Treacle Valley's café/shop stocks all the basics you might need while you're on your hols, and provides a handy and free freezer block service in case you want to pack up a hamper with bubbly (possibly accompanied by a few sandwiches) and head out for the day. When you get hungry you're more than welcome to fire up the barbie or cook up something tasty over your campfire – for anything more substantial, head into one of the nearby seaside towns for supermarkets, seafood restaurants, fish and chip takeaways and posh pub grub. The nearest pub is a 20-minute walk away.

A relaxed, friendly campsite with great views and mostly clean facilities. Staff are helpful, arrival/departure times are flexible, and free fire pits are a bonus. Good base for exploring. Some noisy neighbours and uneven pitches mentioned, especially when busy. Shop hours are limited.

Unpowered grass tent site (small)

Liked Staff are friendly and nice. I always want to be able to have a log fire which they cater for. Big open fields so plenty of places to pitch up and great views if you like nature!

Disliked Steep roads getting to and from the farm but we managed to drive up it!

Liked Beautiful views, lovely friendly site. Clean toilets and lovely hot water in the showers. Will definitely come again.

Liked Space and freedom to pitch where we wanted, arrive and leave when wanted.

Disliked Abandoned tents left even after reporting.

Liked Still waiting a response to their email offering a postponement or cancellation. I opted for a cancellation but no response to my emails!

Disliked Why send out an email offering a postponement or cancellation and then not respond to not one but two emails following up?😡 Poor Customer Service. Very poor 😡

Liked The owners are great but difficult to contact , showers and toilets were clean .

Disliked •The noise and loud music into the evening
•motorbike racing up and down the fields (couldn't allow children to play safley incase they were run over )
•fires even in a fire ban
•Fight for flat land so when you find a nice little area everyone seems to camp on top of each other no camping etiquette . (Had a tent so close the guide ropes were crossing .)
•no answer at reception when needing assistance in the day .
