  • Remote adults-only farm stay with Highland cows and rare breeds
  • A 10-minute drive from Leeds Castle; vineyard 15 minutes away
  • Off-grid site with beef, lamb, pork and eggs all for sale
If you're seeking a properly rural time, you've hit on a royally good base at Kings Oak Farm. This adults-only Kent site is set in 80 acres of sloping pastures on a peaceful rare-breed and Highland cow farm. The spacious, flat pitches have views of stunning green countryside and, of course, the backdrop of those rare-breed cattle and sheep. Folks travelling here have access to facilities including modern toilet and shower blocks, fresh water points and chemical waste disposal points (for cassettes only – not suitable as a motorhome drop point). Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they'll need to be kept on a lead at all times; there’s also the chance to book a farm tour to see the Highland cows up close. Home-reared beef and lamb, plus local pork sausages, bacon and eggs can all be bought on site. Sounds like just the thing for a barbecue? Fine plan – gas-powered grills are permitted as long as they’re kept off the ground (subject to weather conditions). Any other bits you need to finish your meal can be picked up at shops in Sutton Valence or Headcorn, both within a 10-minute drive (you might also like to consider sticking around for pub dinners or a cuppa in the cafés of either village too).

What customers say

A peaceful rural site with friendly staff, lovely views of rare breeds, and spacious pitches. Recent upgrades are a hit. Some found it remote with narrow lanes, but most loved it and want to return.

Liked Lovely quiet campsite very relaxed.
The new toilet and shower block is a welcomed relief.
The kitchen area is great with handy fridge
Also somewhere to have a chat with other campers.
Water and electric pitches very handy
Pitches were very flat.
Great watching the cows move around the fields at different times of the day.
Staff very friendly
Will definitely stay again when hopefully the rest of the upgrades to the kitchen/ shower block is complete

Liked Great little location and we found some good cycle routes and footpaths. Nearby Headcorn was useful for additional provisions. Very nice, clean showers and toilets and useful access to a freezer section. Gary was super helpful and friendly. Be aware, no wifi means no wifi/weak connection so don't expect your normal speeds. It was nice to be disconnected from everything for a few days.
Loved having the cows in the field next door.
Loved having adults only on site.
Loved hearing the birds all day and barely any traffic.

Disliked The very small sink by the toilets but understood why it had to be that narrow. It's a very minor thing!
Disliked the loud people opposite who didn't get the memo about the site being a quiet place. Not Gary's fault at all and they left before us thankfully.

Liked Schöne Kühe und Highlandcows.
Wir hatten nur einen Kontakt zum Besitzer, dies war nett, er kann ein wenig Deutsch sprechen.

Disliked Schlechte Beschilderung Toiletten.

Liked Location was wonderful surrounded by fields. It is only about 20 minutes from where we live but could have been anywhere. Facilities were great there are 2 showers and 2 toilets and a kitchen area with kettle and microwave. All brand new I think and very nicely presented. Liked it here so much have rebooked for a few weeks time. This was our very first time caravan camping so didnt know what to expect. We had a few teething problems with our caravan as it is new to us but we can’t wait to get back in it.

Liked Lovely site, we stayed on the adult only farm as they have a sister farm close by which i believe caters more for famalies, we were met by one of the staff members who showed us the facilities, there are two toilets and two separate showers all fresh and clean. Its a working farm but very little noise from the farm itself and the road. The main field is all grass with ample water points and electric hook ups. Location wise its about an hour to Dover, Hastings, and about 1hr 30mins to Brighton. Theres a small conveniance store in Ulcombe if you need any supplies and a pub if you fancy eating out. The site is really secure with fencing all round and a coded entrance.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Castles and gardens first, as Kent is of course famed throughout the land for both: spectacular Leeds Castle is three miles from the farm; Sissinghurst Castle Garden (one of the best known in England) 11 miles away, and 14th-century Penshurst Place is within 25 miles near Tonbridge. Bedgebury National Pinetum is about 35 minutes' drive away. Vineyards? Find English wine six miles away at Staplehurst, and slightly further afield at Biddenden (eight miles) and Tenterden (13 miles). Kent has over 50 vineyards and a similar soil to the Champagne region of France, so whatever flavour of vino you favour, you'll likely find a bottle to uncork around here. Options within a 45-minute drive include the maritime museum of Chatham Historic Dockyard, the cathedral city of Canterbury, and the Kent & East Sussex Railway, from Tenterden to Bodiam Castle 10 and a half miles away. Prefer to stick closer to him? Perhaps play a round at the golf course next door to the farm. If you do like to be beside the seaside, sands and waters are at Swale, Sheerness, Dymchurch and Whitstable, all around 30-40 minutes' drive away; do stop off at the last to sample some famed Whitstable oysters (if you're around in summer, the Whitstable Oyster Festival is held over a weekend every July).
