Peaceful, quiet pitches

  • Spacious grass pitches in a valley in the South Downs National Park
  • Far from traffic noise and a five-minute drive from Beacon Hill
  • Many local walks and village with good pub a short walk away
This South Downs stay is simple, peaceful and nicely removed from traffic noise, in a lush green valley and surrounded by lovely walks in the national park. At Brocklands Farm, the pitch numbers are kept low so that guests can have plenty of space, and views look out over the lush, green fields of the Meon Valley. The on-site facilities are limited to chemical waste disposal and a drinking water supply, but it’s an easy walk to the village of West Meon, where there’s a pub that serves grub, plus a butcher and a well-stocked community shop. When you're ready to go strolling in the South Downs, take your pick from the local trails: the Meon Valley trail is directly accessible from the site, and, at the top of the farm, it's also possible to get out onto the South Downs Way. Around the farm, keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife that live in the surrounding fields, including brown hares, roe deer, red kites and buzzards. The spacious pitches here are grassy and fairly level; rally groups and well-behaved dogs are welcome.

What customers say

Peaceful, no-frills campsite in a beautiful rural spot, great for getting away from it all. Guests love the quiet vibe, wildlife, and spacious pitches. Excellent walking/cycling from the site, with a village, pub & shop nearby. Basic facilities mean great value. Highly recommended for a tranquil, back-to-nature break.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked Spacious pitches, relaxed atmosphere, nice views, sunlight in the evenings and relatively quiet. Reasonably priced at £18.50 for the night with two freshwater points. The campsite is well located for a walk into West Meon and its great pub, also well situated for a cycle ride down the old railway line and elsewhere.

Disliked The grass could’ve been shorter and reversing into our pitch was difficult as quite slippery even though it has been dry recently. The pitches themselves are all quite sloping and even putting the Motorhome on the ramps doesn’t eliminate a substantial lean, but we knew that as have been a few times now

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked Spacious pitches, incredibly peaceful location despite being just off a main road (no sound of traffic at all) and beautiful green surroundings. Only 2 other campers so didn’t hear any noise.

Local attractions

The tree-lined former railway line that runs next to Brocklands is an excellent starting point for rambles and cycle rides; a popular destination a couple of miles away is Old Winchester Hill, a nature reserve with an Iron Age Hill fort. It's also very handy for the South Downs Way, for those who want to walk or pedal further afield. The Watercress Line heritage railway, which runs from New Alresford to Alton, is another lovely way to explore the Hampshire countryside; or if you prefer to stay put, you could always park yourself in a scenic spot at the Moorhen Trout Fishery up the road. For a fulfilling day trip, wend your way to winsome Winchester: if you’re lucky, you may catch the famous choir in action within the splendour of the 900-year-old cathedral; other visitor attractions in this charming and compact city include a range of excellent museums, castle ruins, and an Arthurian round table, plus fab restaurants and independent shops. Lively Chichester is another pleasant place to while away a day, or you could head to Portsmouth to take a harbour tour and visit the historic dockyards, where HMS Victory and the Mary Rose are among the naval exhibits on display.
