Border Forest Caravan Park

Liked Beautiful site. Very peaceful and relaxed. Stunning setting in the forest with a river flowing by. Facilities are basic but good - hot showers, undercover washing up area and even a microwave. We had a warm welcome and the staff were all really nice. We loved it here and will come back.

Liked Great site nestled within Kielder Forest in Northumberland.
The site is relatively small with the majority of spaces taken up with static vans however, touring pitches are all located next to the streams running through the site. Electricity is an easy hook up and fresh drinking water is close at hand to any of the pitches you have as well as waste water.
The shower/toilet block is a short meander away which are adequate to your needs. There not plush but they serve a purpose.
If you’re bringing pets along there’s more than enough options for walks and strolls with a pig pen onsite for the younger ones to enjoy.
Overall, our visit near the end of September was quite and the site owners are certainly very friendly, welcoming and happy to assist.

Disliked This is an observation more than anything else and should certainly not be construed as a negative; slightly better signage for amenities i.e. showers & grey water waste disposal.

Liked Stayed in pod which was warm and dry

Disliked Camp beds and 2 small chairs in pod would be helpful.
Washing facilities and campers kitchen in need of updating.
A small shop with the very basics would help pennine way walkers and other campers as no real shop in the village which is some distance away.

Pod is an empty tent, which we clearly state!. Over the twenty years I have been here ,occasionally we get walkers who have attitude ( I am special I am a walker) and you fit the bill exactly!

Liked The site is in beautiful area, well situated for visiting Scotland and Kielder.

There is a dog walk, that is one of the best I have ever visited.

I read the reviews about the showers but found them fine, plenty of hot water and clean. A couple of the showers have the toilets and a hand basin in them, I always find this a bonus.

Pitches are a good size and there is an elsan point and pot washing facilities near to the touring pitches, so you don’t have to walk far.

The gentleman who checked us in was efficient and friendly.

Disliked For me the site was fine.

Liked Location is fantastic for lots of lovely peaceful walks. The site has its own large dog walking area too. Staff we met were friendly and helpful. Showers had plenty of continuous hot water but the block itself could do with a little tlc. Appreciate this is towards end of season and all facilities will have had lots of footfall.

Disliked The long walk to the toilets from the Motorhome/Campervan pitches if you need to go through the night. A toilet block near these pitches would make a world of difference.

Liked Lovely site, small, peaceful, great location to escape for a few days. First time away in our camper van. Friendly staff and owners, loved the dog walking area, beautifully landscaped along the river with ponds for wildlife. Will definitely stay here again. Great site.

Disliked Unsure why the toilets for the camper van pitches were closed? Seems a bit odd only having the ones at the other side of the site open when the static caravans have their own toilets and showers on board. Didn't feel comfortable getting to them on my own in pitch dark middle of the night. Surely the ones near the camper vans are the ones that need to be open?

Reason we now only have main toilets and showers open is, we keep having problems with them ,they would have to be completely knocked down and rebuilt,the cost would be considerable, There are 2 pitches very near the toilets ,plus another close .
We are in the middle of the Dark skies area ,so have to keep lighting down
