  • Peaceful adults-only site two miles from the Norfolk Broads
  • A 15-minute drive from Norwich city centre; 25 minutes from the coast
  • Atmospheric night-time vibes from lit woodlands; café and farm shop
If boating on The Broads has long been on your bucket list, take a look here: the dog-friendly Black Barn Farm is a peaceful place to pitch up two miles from the edge of the national park. Here, the adults-only pitches are in a 22-acre field in an established orchard and surrounded by woodlands, making for a rather chilled-out stay. This area is known as the big sky country, so splendid sunsets and lights in the trees create a pretty nice night-time vibe. You’ll be able to kick off the evening with a firepit or barbecue too, as both are permitted on site. A 15-minute drive from Norwich, this site is on the edge of Salhouse, a rural Broads village. So, bridleways and footpaths may be the first thing to capture your attention, as they lead the way to walking, wildlife spotting and canoe hire in the Salhouse Broad – or there's a place to launch your own canoe or paddleboard, two miles away from the site. Convenience is key at this site, starting with the toilets and showers inside the barn, all heated with auto light switches for that extra ease. The barn also has a small farm shop and a café that serves up sizeable breakfasts plus sandwiches and snacks. Nearby, a train station and bus stop are within walking distance with regular services to Norwich city centre or the coast. Foodie? The local food shop is a 20-minute walk away along a public footpath (or a five-minute car journey). For more specific bits, there’s a bigger supermarket 10 minutes’ drive away and beer aficionados will find a brewery and pub five minutes’ drive away too.

What customers say

This adult-only spot boasts spacious, level pitches with water & EHU. Facilities are praised as clean and modern. The on-site barn has a popular cafe with great breakfasts, a butcher, and craft shops. Handy for exploring the Broads and Norwich, with a bus stop nearby. Some found showers/sinks limited, and WiFi can be patchy. It's a peaceful and relaxed place.

Liked Really lovely campsite run by lovely people. Very chilled and easy going. Toilets and showers were fine, we camped bank holiday weekend and toilets and showers weren’t busy at all! We had breakfast at the cafe the day we left and it was really good. Would highly recommend

Liked Great sized pitch and quiet site.

Disliked The onsite shops close at 3pm the nearest shops a drive away. No caravan shops for the bits you forget. The waste area looks unslightly and there is old polly tunnels and frames dotted about in the hedges opposite the pitches. What surprised me most though. No sanitary waste in the toilet block. This was a little embarrassing having to carry used sanitary wear around the campsite and super unhygienic. There’s no path really in each direction out of the campsite. It’s a fast road to be walking on, especially as the evenings draw in.

Liked The pitch was a good size with electric and water. It’s very handy having breakfast so close. The Stag pub is just a 15-20 minute stroll away and worth it as it’s a lovely pub with good food.
There was a wedding on so we had free music the DJ was very good nearly gate crashed the wedding for a dance 🤣

Disliked On the first night our neighbours were very loud until 3-4am so we moved pitches for the second night.

Liked I loved my stay at this site. It has well-designated pitches separated by shrubs. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. It was so quiet when I stayed which was wonderful. The cafe in the barn is so convenient for snacks, meals and coffee.
There was no check-in and I loved the fact that I could choose my own pitch.
I will definitely be returning as this simple, peaceful little site was pretty perfect for me.

Disliked If I were to be really picky, some signeage pointing to the campsite would be helpful as it is tucked behind the barn.
The showers and loos are mixed which is not ideal and they are also used by the public, but as it was so quiet and I used them when the barn was closed it didn't affect me too much.

Liked The relaxed environment and friendly people. Dogs loved walking around the orchards. The restaurant onsite does a brilliant breakfast and the butchers lamb burgers were a treat!

Disliked Nothing! But if you’re looking for a place with a lot going on and activities then this isn’t your campsite. If you’re looking for a peaceful place, with nice facilities, in a good location, then this place is a winner!
