General

  • Set in spectacular surroundings in the Teme Valley
  • Wake up to a 'must be heard to be believed' dawn chorus
  • Abundance of wildlife: birds, butterflies, foxes, badgers and deer

There are quite a few unique factors about a stay at Hidden Valley in the Worcestershire countryside: the owners are keen campers themselves so know of what they speak.

First up is the space: cramming pitch upon pitch into a field is very much frowned upon at this small family-run place, so you'll find the accommodation options scattered secludedly around a wild and ancient nine-acre orchard: no clubhouses, no caravans and no close neighbours here...

Second, the stargazing... this is enormous Teme Valley sky and where you'll be able a to spot galaxies rather than a cluster of mere stars; you could lie back under the sky here and imagine you're anywhere on the planet.

And third, the dawn chorus. The thousands of birds here will be chirping in greeting as soon as the sun starts to seep through your tent canvas... the owners say it has to be heard to be believed, and you'll likely reckon they're right.

Hidden Valley has a shower, a composting toilet and a washing-up area. Barbecues and campfires are both allowed; for valley drinks, the pub local to the site is within walking distance.

Please note

Dogs are not allowed in the on-site accommodations.

Thanks Valerie. You saw both sides of Hidden Valley - the peace and tranquility of midweek term-time, and the us at our fullest., with like-minded people enjoying the weekend. You'll have to bring your bikes with you next time.. It's a great ride down into Tenbury (quite a jaunt back up though!).

What a lovely campsite. Just what we wanted. Quiet and away from it all. We loved the fact that there were no cars on the site so the children were free to explore. We also loved the space. Not rows and rows of tents and caravans but space and privacy. We also loved the fact that there was no electric hook up which added to the peacefulness.

    Disliked:

Although a lovely location (we stayed at the top of the hill with views over the surrounding countryside) the toilet/washing facilities were a bit of a trek (down/up and steep hill) and not ideal in the middle of the night! But I guess that's what you get for wanting to be away from it all.

From the manager...

Thanks Anna, we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

We are planning to get a second toilet up and running for the Summer.. on the top level, just next to the honesty shop, and at some point (although I keep saying this) we will dig some steps down to the middle tier rather than having to go out of the gate and down and around etc.. Hopefully when you return, you'll notice the difference and we can get an 11/10! :)

Thanks again, and happy camping.

True hidden valley with lots to explore for the children. Very nice spacious and quiet site. The owners are very friendly and always at hand if anything needed. There was a problem with the shower one morning and it was fixed within a half an hour of us reporting it. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the site owners and we especially liked their mentality of happy children=happy parents and theny allowing our kids to climb trees, explore the fields and be near their sheep and cows. They have loved being at the campsite so much it was hard to take them on days out, which was a first for us! Lol
Facilities very clean, hot shower and eco toilet just perfect. We found this to be the perfect campsite for our needs and will definitely return! Thank you Jen and Simon!

From the manager...

Thanks Zita. The best review of all is the fact that your boys didn't want to leave the site for day trips out. We hope to see you again before the summer is out.

Many thanks guys. The best review of them all was when I asked if you'd had a good time, and one of the kids replied "it couldn't be any better"! :) It was great to see them exploring and enjoying themselves - one advantage of a car-free site. Have a great summer, and we hope to see you again.

We really enjoyed our stay here as it isn't really the camping season no more we had the whole place to ourselves along with another couple we went with. Simon was helpful with everything we needed and answered any questions I had. The campsite was nice and clean, nice to have the tent on the top field next to the sheep. The toilet block was clean, and the showers were warm. The honesty shop was a nice touch to have.

    Disliked:

I can imagine in the summertime that there would be quite a queue for the toilet / shower as there is only 1 of each which would become a problem as there was only the 4 of us it wasn't so bad. The toilet wasn't so much to some of our liking but for 2 nights we managed.

From the manager...

Thanks Lauren. I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay - despite the weather! The end of the season is a great time to get away if you want peace and quiet as bookings become few and far between.

If you had have come in the summer when we are busy, you would have seen 2 pop-up toilets around site to help ease the pressure of the main toilet.

We have had 40 people on site on many occasions and never had a problem with the shower - I think because it is free and available with hot water 24 hours a day, then there is no rush to get showered. Sometimes when I go down to clean, there may be 1 or 2 people (usually from the same group) waiting but they never have to wait long, often doing the washing up while they wait.

Beautiful campsite with an option for more secluded pitches. The facilities were good and clean. The water in the area was also very nice to drink, compared to the more chlorinated water I am used to. Great idea to have an honesty shop, we bought two disposable BBQs at a reasonable price.

    Disliked:

From the manager...

Thanks for the review.

We try to keep the prices reasonable in the honesty shop - it's size means we wont ever earn our fortunes from it- so it is more for your (the camper's) convenience than anything else.

See you again in 2018?
