Umberslade Estate: View over the grassy pitches

General

  • Spacious Warwickshire park set in the grounds of a country estate
  • A 25-minute drive from Warwick Castle or Stratford-upon-Avon
  • On-site coffee shop, playgrounds and walking routes

Have your morning cuppa or coffee in the grounds of a gorgeous countryside estate, and stretch your legs around the walking trails. It’s not just the mornings that are splendid when you stay at Umberslade Estate – this well-maintained site surrounded by the green Warwickshire countryside also has playgrounds and a coffee shop, Espresso Farm, which is open for refreshments daily, between 9am and 4pm.

Elsewhere on the farm, kids can get up to activities including forest school or exploring the indoor play barn (just talk to site staff for details). There are also plenty of animals to see in the fields and outdoor play areas that children are likely to enjoy spotting throughout their stay.

When you’re ready to dig into some more substantial grub, the site is approximately a mile from the village of Tanworth-in-Arden, where there is a friendly local pub. Danzey railway station is also close by, just over a mile and a half to the south of the estate; Wood End station is just over two miles to the north. That makes getting about Warwickshire’s historic towns and cities pretty easy.

Other top-notch facilities at this family-friendly place include state-of-the-art toilets and showers, handy washing up sinks and a room where guests can charge their mobile phones and other gadgets.

Dogs are also allowed to come and stay at Umberslade Estate, but they must be kept on their best behaviour and under control at all times.

This is a gem of a campsite and we were blessed with fantastic weather which always helps!
The toilets, showers and wash up areas were very clean. The site was well maintained with lovely play parks for young and older children.
The pizza was fantastic and it was handy having the coffee shop onsite too.
The campsite was one large green field so children could play in the middle and still be supervised from the tent areas which was perfect.
The estate is very peaceful and we all loved it. The children loved seeing the animals.

Could choose anywhere to park on large flat field. Toilet blocks were very good with separate shower rooms. Staff very friendly and pizzas and skin on fries were delicious. Espresso bar was also a great addition as I love my coffee.
Lovely walks through to the village from the site. Perfect place to chill out with a group of friends if the weather is nice.

Loved the family friendly homely feel of the estate. Perfect for young ones. We visited the farm morning and night, as well as playing on the park, grabbing an ice cream and most importantly a fresh pizza on departure.

    Disliked:

Ideally more showers. We went on low to mid season, and still had to wait a while which wasn’t a problem but can see how this could be during peak season and times.

This campsite was an absolute gem of a find. Their advert on Pitch Up vastly undersells how lovely their site is! The camping field is flat and well looked after and you could choose your own spot. There is a modern coffee shop which is open 9-4 and serves hot drinks, a good selection of cakes as well as warm and cold sandwiches. This has plenty of seating inside and outside. Separately there is a pizza barn, which sells fresh pizzas made while you wait and which you can eat inside the barn or outside at the tables or take away. They also sell a small selection of beer, wines and ciders as well as soft drinks. The pizzas are excellent!! There is a clean toilet block with eight ladies toilets and separate mens toilets along with three unisex shower rooms with toilets included. Even when the campsite filled up, there was no issue getting in to use the shower. There are plenty of animals to see on the farm if you have small children and the farmer is friendly, helpful and seemingly never stops working to keep everything immaculate. Well done Umberslade, you are an excellent example of how to run a lovely campsite!! We will definitely be back.

Local attractions

Feeling the spirit of the outdoors? Then, you have several options for outdoorsy days out. Umberslade Adventure (10 minutes' drive) is a family-friendly place with archery, zipwires, tree climbing and low ropes courses. The Bear Grylls Adventure (25 minutes) is a little more challenging, of course, and has high ropes, a shark dive, escape rooms and an assault course designed for marines.

While rowing boats will keep up some of the action in Stratford-upon-Avon (25 minutes), a more peaceful time might involve exploring Shakespeare’s Birthplace or catching a show at one of the three Shakespeare-inspired theatres.

Cadbury World (30 minutes) in Birmingham will bring chocolate making into the mix. However, if it’s science you’re interested in, Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum (40 minutes) might be your first stop. There’s the West Midland Safari Park (45 minutes) too, for those who want to see some wildlife up close.

When you fancy a visit to a historical place, Packwood House (15 minutes) is a local Tudor manor house and Warwick Castle (25 minutes) has years of history and a knight’s village and turrets among other historic features.
