Have your morning cuppa or coffee in the grounds of a gorgeous countryside estate, and stretch your legs around the walking trails. It’s not just the mornings that are splendid when you stay at Umberslade Estate – this well-maintained site surrounded by the green Warwickshire countryside also has playgrounds and a coffee shop, Espresso Farm, which is open for refreshments daily, between 9am and 4pm. Elsewhere on the farm, there are also plenty of animals to see in the fields and outdoor play areas that children are likely to enjoy spotting throughout their stay. When you’re ready to dig into some more substantial grub, the site is approximately a mile from the village of Tanworth-in-Arden, where there is a friendly local pub. If you're lucky enough to be here during high season, there's also an on-site pizza barn open from midday to the evening on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with woodfired pizzas made by their very own Italian pizza chef and excellent local ales. Danzey railway station is also close by, just over a mile and a half to the south of the estate; Wood End station is just over two miles to the north. That makes getting about Warwickshire’s historic towns and cities pretty easy. Other facilities at this family-friendly place include toilets (note, there are no showers) and handy washing-up sinks. Dogs are also allowed to come and stay at Umberslade Estate, but they must be kept on their best behaviour and under control at all times.

A grand, flat field with loads of room. The facilities are spotless and modern. Lovely cafe and pizza barn. Great for families with a playground and animals. Mostly quiet, but a bit of road/dog noise for some. Long walk to facilities and showers can be busy.

Liked We liked the location and its tranquillity. The field was well mown and reasonably level but beyond that there is little else to commend it as a touring campsite.

Disliked The appalling lack of facilities including drinking water supply, black and gray water disposal and dry waste disposal are almost unforgivable for a site charging £30 per night. We use many sites at this price point and usually get water fill up points, waste disposal including toilet waste and drive over waste water disposal. Not able to comment on the entertainment offered as we didn’t find or use it.

Liked It is a large open field, quiet on the night we were there so just what we wanted. Facilities are a walk away but that’s ok.
Not far off the M42 so was the deep country stopover we wanted.

Disliked I didn’t have time to read the confirmation email about phoning the owner when we arrived. I just pitched up and worked it out. Something about this would be useful when booking.

Liked I liked the location, the facilities and the field! The first night we were the only ones camping there! Really lovely!

Disliked When I arrived there wasn’t a sign to say which field was for camping. As there were no other campers it was unclear (although the campsite did message to say by the carpark). Even when I was camping another can drove and asked me as they were unclear too - just a small thing. When I come back I’ll absolutely know.

Liked Great field with lovely countryside surroundings, great to have a pizza barn and cafe and children’s outdoor play area on site, with good facilities like showers toilets, washing up.

Feeling the spirit of the outdoors? Then, you have several options for outdoorsy days out. Umberslade Adventure (10 minutes' drive) is a family-friendly place with archery, zipwires, tree climbing and low ropes courses. While rowing boats will keep up some of the action in Stratford-upon-Avon (25 minutes), a more peaceful time might involve exploring Shakespeare’s Birthplace or catching a show at one of the three Shakespeare-inspired theatres. Cadbury World (30 minutes) in Birmingham will bring chocolate making into the mix.
