Glebe Leisure: Front field and shower block: hardstandings are in the middle

General

  • Quiet secluded site close to Bicester
  • The closest site to Bicester Heritage (two miles)
  • Fishing lakes on site

What an excellent Oxfordshire site this is for anglers. And walkers. And quiet English countryside appreciators. For friendly and well-maintained Glebe Leisure Park is in a cracking countryside location on the edges of Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire as well as Oxfordshire and has two fishing lakes on site as well as lots of trails all around.

Dogs – and their owners – like this place too, as there are long walks and gravelled pathways with dog waste bins set at handy locations, and it's mighty like too that cyclists will like the gentle and short pedal along to local town Bicester...

Any amenities you might need are sorted here, such as a loo and shower block with info room about the surrounding area, a toilet and shower facilities for disabled guests, a chemical disposal point, drinking water outlets and a car park.

Had to pay for WiFi. £10 per device. Haven't paid for WiFi for years on a site !! And then the coverage was poor. Got better reception in the valleys of Wales and it was free. Fish in the lake are slimy, it needs a damn good clean out . 4 showers for each male and female on a full campsite and ecopods are not enough.

A useful location but not a long stay site - unless you like fishing09/18/2021

Easy access with remote barrier button. Location. The site does have tremendous possibilties to be refreshed into a really nice small site. It is a real shame that the site has been allowed to get so run down.

    Disliked:

The site is very tired now. the fully serviced pitches, of which there are only a few, leave a lot to be desired. the surfaces are completely broken up, as are the other hard standing ones. Our pitch had to share the service bollard with a neighbouring one which meant that the neighbour had seen fit to move his van too close to ours to get his connections. Fortunately he moved on after our first night.
Our pitch was that eroded away that the motor mover struggled to drive the caravan up onto the main driveway.
For £30 per night I expected a better quality site than this. Have paid this on other sites which have been really well maintained and also had TV hook ups AND Free WiFi!
Externally the toilet facilities are not up to present day expectations, but inside clean and adequate.

Beautiful scenery. Lovely walk. Showers were clean and well maintained.
Lovely Warren very friendly really had a great time there. Two issues I noted were not the fault of the park.

    Disliked:

The amount of people disregarding the the rule to keep dogs on lead in the caravan fields. I have a little puppy and was set upon more than once by dogs off lead. One even in our awning!!!
Lots of noise on Saturday night. Was supposed to end at 11 but screaming and shouting til 11:30 then dogs going crazy barking. Wasn’t the sites fault but more could be done to remind people of the rules so everyone can have fun.

    Well organised
    Very clean
Love the enclosed wooded dog walking area with its circular route
Great car/van/moho wash area… the first time we’ve cleaned our moho in a year!
Fab stop off point en route for us south to north
Watching the gliders from nearby airfield

    Disliked:

We were parked quite near the road which is lovely and quiet all night, but traffic is quite fast in the morning rush hour. Nothing bad and wouldn’t stop me returning.

The 0.65 metre dog walk through young woodland ( I don't have a dog) and a stroll round the fishing lake.
Didn't try facilities used on-board. hubby said gents toilets were clean.
Easy fob to use to get on and off site.
    Good TV and Vodafone signal.
convenient for Rousham and Stowe gardens
didnt do shopping in the village or oxford but good location for both.

    Disliked:

Small pitches close together, felt a bit like a sardine!
Total ignoring of space between pitches for some campers and rules not applied by owners.
Not that the site could be responsible there is a lot of road noise, not applicable to all pitches.
Disturbance from people arriving to fish parking their cars especially early morning (05.30). but then I live in rural Wales and missed my walks.

Local attractions

Plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés are in Glebe Leisure's local town of Bicester within a couple of miles, and designer clothes and accessories in the outlet shopping centre Bicester Village.

Glebe is the closest site to Bicester Heritage, the first park in the UK for the tender loving restoration care of classic and vintage cars, motorbikes and planes, all on over 345 acres of an old RAF bomber station. The centre's been described as 'a historic motoring fan's idea of heaven' so do speed along there if old engines make your motor hum.

Twelve miles from the site is simply smashing Blenheim Palace, given to the first Duke of Marlborough by Charlie 2 and handed down through the Churchill family to reach one Winston some decades back. You really should have a trip...

Also within 12 miles are another few British institutions: the dizzying array of arty treasures at the National Trust's Waddesdon Manor; Broughton Castle at Banbury, and days out spectating fast types at Silverstone Circuit.

Must see

  • Stowe Landscape Gardens (13.1 kilometres)
  • Silverstone Circuit (17.3 kilometres)
  • Waddesdon Manor (17.7 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Buckingham Chantry Chapel (12.4 kilometres)
  • Claydon (12.8 kilometres)
