Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) next-door to the site, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink. The Willows is a small and friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location… Despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury and a 15-minute drive from the outskirts of the Malvern Hills National Landscape. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...). In Tewkesbury, tour the abbey, gardens and museum or do a round of the cafés. If you fancy zipping off to the Malvern Hills for the day, there are plenty of hikes within a short drive or lively Great Malvern is within 25 minutes' drive of the site. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. The country lanes and honey-coloured stone of the Cotswolds National Landscape can be accessed around half an hour's drive away, too. Around the site, there are splendid views of the river and lots of green space. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs along for their holiday. Barbecues are also given the green light, so don't forget to pick up your groceries while out pottering around Tewkesbury.

Liked Like the laidback atmosphere and the position good food and beer all at a good price at the local pub.

Disliked Grounds could have been better for not much money. Toilet block let it down has been improved but still let's an excellent site into an OK site.

Liked Location, great vibe, excellent pub on site. Live music the Friday and Saturday we were there. Informal. Friendly staff & campers. Taxi, cheap enough from town.

Disliked Walk into Tewkesbury, need to get the boat back to take you across the river.

Toilet facilities could be better.

Liked It was a lovely campsite, next to the Lower Lode pub, and the river. The nonelectric pitch was really nice (level)

Liked Absolutely beautiful place, so peaceful, quiet and relaxing. We cant wait to return.

Disliked The only niggle was all the cobwebs in the shower, didn't stop me showering and it didn't affect our holiday.

Disliked Rundown state of site facilities and hygiene standards.
It needs refurbished and a cleaning regime put in place, the toilet/shower lock is very bad!

Unpowered grass site

Liked Superb site - very flat, close to the river, quiet and lovely being woken up by the ducks, swans and birds. Site guy very friendly and helpful. Pub is lovely and reasonably priced. Very reasonable price.

Disliked A long hike tonTewksbury. Toilets, showers etc are very basic and need investment. They are clean and there is hot water.

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury (five minutes' drive) hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. Also on your doorstep are the Cotswolds (from half an hour's drive) and attractive towns and cities such as Cheltenham (35 minutes) and Gloucester (half an hour). Ledbury (25 minutes), with its timber-framed houses and 17th-century market house, is also within striking distance.
