Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) next-door to the site, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink. The Willows is a small and friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location… Despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury and a 15-minute drive from the outskirts of the Malvern Hills National Landscape. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...). In Tewkesbury, tour the abbey, gardens and museum or do a round of the cafés. If you fancy zipping off to the Malvern Hills for the day, there are plenty of hikes within a short drive or lively Great Malvern is within 25 minutes' drive of the site. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. The country lanes and honey-coloured stone of the Cotswolds National Landscape can be accessed around half an hour's drive away, too. Around the site, there are splendid views of the river and lots of green space. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs along for their holiday. Barbecues are also given the green light, so don't forget to pick up your groceries while out pottering around Tewkesbury.

Não gostou Rundown state of site facilities and hygiene standards.
It needs refurbished and a cleaning regime put in place, the toilet/shower lock is very bad!

Gostou Superb site - very flat, close to the river, quiet and lovely being woken up by the ducks, swans and birds. Site guy very friendly and helpful. Pub is lovely and reasonably priced. Very reasonable price.

Não gostou A long hike tonTewksbury. Toilets, showers etc are very basic and need investment. They are clean and there is hot water.

Não gostou Based on reviews and information we were looking forward to a stay at a peaceful campsite. Upon arriving we discovered there was a big event with live music at the neighbouring pub that we were un aware of. If we had been aware we would have chosen a different site or different dates. Stewards of the event were not happy about moving barriers so we could access the campsite. Reception was closed with a number to phone to check in, it was hard to find signal to do this. Instructions to our pitch were unhelpful, once we found or thought we'd found it and parked up the campsite owner pulled up next to us in a car. He said "who are you". I explained I'd just spoken to him on the phone. He said "ah yeah I'm not sure what to do with you" then immediately drove off. This made us feel uneasy. We went to use the campsite facilities which were very worn, tired and not particularly clean, it was also a very busy campsite (we think due to the event) with only one toilet in the men's. With all of this in mind we decided to leave the campsite as we wouldn't be getting our peaceful weekend by the river. I contacted the campsite via email to discuss this but got no response.

Gostou The weather

Não gostou The "facilities " in 20 years of motorhoming all over the UK and Europe are the worst we have experienced by miles ! Absolutely disgusting. Appear to have NEVER been properly cleaned or updated since opening.
Without being fully inoculated against every infection known to man I would not recommend going within 100m of the cesspit toilet / shower block.
Dogs running around the site darking day and night, none on leads. One ran away and caused a nightmare afternoon as the owner blamed everyone else - unbelievable !
Pitches are overgrown and extremely rough.
Pub sadly run down and seems to be on the edge of closure.
Reception is dilapidated old shed at the end of the pub. No WiFi on site.
You can not cross the river here to get to Tewkesbury so without transport you are trapped on this hell hole.
Amazing that they have the cheek to actually charge to stay here.

Não gostou Nothing, fabulous rural setting, pub great, bikers weekend fabulous….(didn’t know it was on, but made to feel really welcome) best weekend away in our van to date this year!!

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury (five minutes' drive) hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. Also on your doorstep are the Cotswolds (from half an hour's drive) and attractive towns and cities such as Cheltenham (35 minutes) and Gloucester (half an hour). Ledbury (25 minutes), with its timber-framed houses and 17th-century market house, is also within striking distance. If you're yet to get your full fill of historic sites, head along to Eastnor Castle (20 minutes) or British Camp Hill Fort (25 minutes) in the Malvern Hills National Landscape or treat yourself to a ride on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (35 minutes' drive)
