What customers say
Castleton Camping: stunning, secluded spot below Mam Tor, perfect for hikers. Guests rave about amazing views, peaceful vibes, and super-clean facilities, especially the new loos. Owner Katie gets top marks for being friendly and helpful. Great value, though no showers and sometimes a bit noisy or bumpy underfoot. A fave for return trips!

Liked Great little campsite! It’s basic, but everything it has is clean and tidy.
When we arrived there was a pop up coffee van outside, didn’t try it but looked nice.
Showers would finish this site off perfectly.

Great hiking base & location for Castleton
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Stayed 2 nights this time, great location for a hiking base and very useful to just be able to pitch up and check in later. Facilities are basic but all you need for a night or 2 stay, honesty box and coffee van on a weekend is a nice touch.
Disliked Despite it being a quiet site and no noise after 10:30pm, the first night was very noisy and I found it hard to get to sleep with people still talking loudly at 1am. Thankfully 2nd night was much better.

Liked The setting is lovely. Great place. Make sure you take your blocks if you’re in a car/van.
The toilets were cleaned twice a day. Always toilet roll. Enjoyed the stay.
Very basic but lovely.
Short walk into Castleton where there are pubs galore.
Disliked There was a group of lads that were very noisy but the owner did contact them and tell them to shut up.
The road in is hard work if you meets other cars.

Liked Sooo peaceful and amazing views!
Not a busy campsite which was lovely, it felt very private and there was zero noise, you’re surrounded by amazing views in every direction. Toilets were very clean and well stocked!
20 min walk into casltleton which has some great pubs and cafes, also very close to so many amazing walks in the peaks. Definitely will be back!
Disliked Although there aren’t many people at the site it could do with a couple more toilets as there can be a bit of a wait in the mornings.
Would be great if there was potential for a few showers in the future so we can stop more than one night😊

An amazing, basic campsite on the outskirts of Castleton
Unpowered grass campervan site
Liked Everything! The site is immaculate and situated in the most amazing spot in the lee of Mam Tor. The facilities are basic but that is exactly what we want. We will most definitely return.
Disliked Nothing

Good value compared to others in the area but disappointingly busy.
Unpowered grass campervan site
Liked Spectacular views and an easy 1 mile walk into Castleton village.
Disliked Hard to find a level spot. Very busy with tents and one pitched up within a metre of our van despite plenty of space down the middle of the field. It was also noisy after midnight but assume this is rare. Toilets not adequate for the number of tents.
