In need of a Devon des res with smashing views? Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is a quiet site in the hills above Lynton and Lynmouth in the Exmoor National Park. As it's got direct access to the A39, it's a top contender if you're looking for a base to explore the Devon and Somerset coast. Needless to say, there's plenty of stunning scenery around here: keep your eyes peeled for resident wildlife like wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey. The surrounding countryside is also full of trails for rural rambles, including the long-distance South West Coast Path. Dogs are welcome at the site and direct access to footpaths makes it a breeze to keep Fido fit and healthy. Lynmouth Holiday Retreat has plenty of practical benefits too: facilities include a food shop, wifi, a washing-up area and a launderette to keep your gear spick and span. If you find yourself getting peckish, feel free to set up a barbecue, order a takeaway or head down into Lynton (five minutes away) to stock up at the supermarket. You'll likely want to linger here for a stroll around its picture-worthy cottages, fishing boats and genteel Victorian buildings. Alternatively, forage for your own supper by taking the kids crabbing down at Lynmouth harbour (five minutes' drive).

Beautifully kept, clean, peaceful site with views that'll take your breath away. Top-notch facilities, especially the loos and showers – you'll struggle to find better. Staff are brilliant, always happy to help. Handy spot for mooching around local towns and sights. A few pitches can be breezy, and the shower timers are a bit fiddly, but everyone agrees it's a grand spot and they'd be back in a heartbeat.

Rabbit Field electric gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Everything was absolutely perfect ,clean and well maintained friendly helpful staff. Excellent views very relaxed atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. See you again next year if not before thanks for a great experience ❤️

Disliked No dislikes but would of liked the local shop to have more variety and possibly to sell cigarettes for us bad habit people rather than packing our bits up to travel in our big camper van to travel for these things that would be great if we could get them on site.

Liked Everything was great, good sized pitches, spotless toilets and washrooms, good wifi, great views and a brilliant food van serving tasty food and lovely cocktails.

Liked Excellent views from Bay View if you were on pitch 8-12 even better, as the pitches are levelled off and stepped down to next level below and offset. They do BBQ on Mondays near reception
There is a wood fired pizza van there on Tuesday between 17.00 to 20.00 cooking fresh pizza which are very tasty, They have a well stocked shop and you can order fresh bread for next day. Site kept very clean and very modern toilet and shower block which is spotless (no coins needed) even a dishwasher.
If you do not want to cook there is an Airstream ''Retreat'' serving food, drinks an even cocktails. Serves 08.00 -11.00 in the morning and 14.00-20.00 in the week 16.00-20.00 at weekends again excellent food lots of choice.
Nice walks down to Lynmouth & Lynton if you like hiking/walking

Local attractions

Guests here have plenty of attractions and activities on their doorstep in and around Lynton and Lynmouth (five minutes' drive). For a novel way to travel between the two, try the funicular cliff railway that connects the twin towns. In the surrounding countryside, you can marvel at the geological formations of the Valley of the Rocks (10 minutes) or head out to the forest around Watersmeet (15 minutes) for waterfalls and an elegant Victorian tea room. Many head to this part of the country in search of outdoor pursuits, so sporty types may well be pleased to learn that Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is close to a stables (10 minutes), fishing lake (20 minutes) and golf club (40 minutes). To really get that blood pumping, hike some or all of the 14 miles along the coast to Combe Martin, a hilly stretch of the South West Coast Path that includes this trail's highest point. You may, of course, prefer a day lounging on the beach (and with beaches like these, who can blame you?). Top seaside towns nearby include Minehead, with its rockpools, and Ilfracombe with its castle and aquarium (both half an hour away).
