  • Peaceful and secluded 200-acre farm site on the river Lynher
  • A 10-minute drive from Saltash or 20 minutes from Looe
  • Pitch up wild-style anywhere on site or opt for field with facilities
What a cracking corner of Cornwall this is: make a break for Bush Farm Wild Camping if you fancy peaceful times spent lounging by the Lynher river. There's certainly no shortage of space at this 200-acre site – woodland walks, strolls through green fields and waterside wanders by rivers and lakes are all on offer here. This family-friendly spot is a fab site to bring the kids to, especially if they're avid nature fans: these wild grounds are always rustling with local birds and beasts, and you can keep an eye out for the farm's friendly horses and dogs as well. When you roll up at this green and grassy spot, you'll be given a map and left to settle down wherever you please. Don't fancy trekking to get to the loo and showers? Opt for the main site instead and pitch up closer to the farm’s creature comforts. Off-site jaunts are also easily arranged in this well-connected part of the world – Saltash and the gorgeous river Tamar are 10 minutes' drive away, while Plymouth, on the other side of the Devon-Cornwall border, can be reached in about 25 minutes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome here. The Bush Farm Wild Camping crew are happy for you to light up a barbecue or firepit and can sort you out with bags of wood to help you get the flames flickering in no time.

What customers say

A lovely, quiet spot with loads of space. The staff are grand and you can pick your own spot, even by the river. Toilets and showers are clean, though a bit basic. Mostly grand, but a few folks mentioned noise and some bits a bit rough.

Liked Location

Disliked I was introduced to this campsite by friends and fall in love for the site immediately, stunning location, always felt safe and secure, so understandably I was looking forward to my stay this year.
How different my experience was this year, to the point I'll never come back to this site!
I arrived Tuesday after work around 2ish in the afternoon, there was nobody at the reception, the other years there was always someone at the reception! Because of the heat and my scatter brain, menopausal woman here, I forgot to call the numbers they have at the reception door and went straight to my favourite spot because I was desperate for shade because I had my dog and cat with me. So I proceeded to the last field, one of the reasons I fallen in love with this place, there's loads of room for disperse camping, if I wanted to be on top of each other I would of went to a conventional campsite. On arrival at the entrance of the last field I saw a red sign saying no vehicles past this point, thought that's strange because we always stayed on that field, I stop the car and went and check the field and saw that there was tracks on the grass, so I assumed people were there during the opening the past weekend, and I thought they put the sign in for insurance purposes, because in the entrance of the field the road is a bit "scary " but if you go slowly you can do it without problems, so I enter the field, went to my favourite spot, and set up camp, may I had, I litter pick before setting up, it wasn't bad, only a few bits of plastic, a hair crunchy and 2 dog poo bags.
I spent the next 3 days in total bliss and only saw 4 people during those days, none of them were camp staff, the other years there was a lovely gentleman on a quad bike going around every day checking everything was alright, so I assumed they must of changed management.
On the third day at 9.30 at night, a man barged in my site, never introduced himself, telling me that my car couldn't be there and that I had to move it, not back to the entrance of the field but to the opposite way, I tried to explain to him what I mentioned above, I thought someone went flying tro the "scary" bit of the road and broke their car/van and tried to sue then so to save themselves they put that sign at the entrance, the man was been intimidating and threatening which scared me because I was alone with my pets and there was nobody else in the field, I end up moving the car but because I didn't left exactly where he told me he turned nasty and demanded me to leave the site by 9am and he left. Needless to say this incident left me quite shaken and distressed, because of it I hardly slept that night, as soon as there was light I packed my things and left the site with tears in my eyes because I loved this place so much and was shocked with what happened the night before, I left the site better than I found it, spotless, because am a nature lover and am very respectful of my surroundings and other people, is a shame really because I was going to book another 2 nights.
I really hope the staff, or whoever that man was, to get some training in customer skills, because his skills were appoling! Approaching a single woman late at night in that matter is out of order!!!!

Non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch (wild)

Liked The wide open spaces and free rein to explore and choose your pitch. The welcome was fantastic with all the information we needed given. Peaceful surroundings, lovely trees and easy to access river for wild swimming. Staying here feels like a genuine escape from life and was really relaxing.

Disliked The long grass made things more difficult than a traditional campsite. I fell over twice in hidden holes so take care. It should be noted that the full 200 acres are not accessible in a traditional car but there is still plenty of room.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch (wild)

Liked Friendly and helpful hosts. Relaxed atmosphere. Different areas to choose from to pitch up from the busier areas by the river to the quiet areas in the top fields. Plenty of space for everyone. Basic facilities which were fabulously quirky. You’re surrounded by wildlife and when we walked around the site, were even greeted by some adorable goats.

Disliked We didn't dislike anything. If we were to be really picky, the generator was loud for the Polish food van and was on all day until evening but they are offering a service and seemed popular. We could have moved at any time so not complaining.

Liked We absolutely loved our stay at Bush Farm Wild Camping. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the site is huge and spacious! We stayed on a Bank Holiday Monday in our Campervan and there was so much space around us, it is very rustic and rural, you just choose a spot and park up! Absolutely beautiful. There was also a running shower with hot water and flushing toilets and sinks if you are looking for a rustic vibe but need some home comforts ᵕ̈

Local attractions

After a couple of days on this vast family farm, you'll probably be a dab hand at finding your way around a fair few of its 200 acres. Put those navigation skills to the test at The Amazing Cornish Maize Maze (five minutes' drive), a fiendishly tricky labyrinth that's planted in a different layout each summer. Adrenaline Quarry (20 minutes), an adventurous activities centre, has more family-friendly options to keep the small sorts on side. Grownups who fancy a break from DIY-style stays can indulge in a proper pampering at St. Mellion Estate (10 minutes), a posh Cornish resort with a top-notch golf course and soothing spa. Once your aches and pains have melted away, take a blissful saltwater bath at Whitsand Bay (20 minutes), or head to Looe harbour for wine by the sea and sunset strolls. The inimitable Eden Project (45 minutes) has been a mainstay of Cornish hols since it opened the doors to its domes back in 2001 – budding botanists and eager environmentalists will definitely want to make the trip.
