  • Spacious site 10 minutes’ drive from the Yorkshire Wolds
  • A 10-minute drive from Hull and 15 minutes from Beverley
  • Secure bike storage, firepit rental, honesty shop and dog shower area
If secluded and quiet hols within easy reach of cities, beaches and pretty countryside spots tick all your boxes, make your way to Yorkshire’s Entick Campsite, a family-friendly and family-run site in the village of Dunswell, 10 minutes’ drive from the city of Hull. Proximity to Hull all but ensures that everyone in the family will be entertained during stays. The city caters for all tastes, with a massive aquarium for budding biologists, plenty of museums and galleries for the culturally minded, gardens for the naturalists, and a casino for anyone who wants to try their luck. Those who are after a break from cities, on the other hand, may prefer to spend days roaming the beach at Hornsea, 35 minutes away, or wandering the paths in either direction along the river Hull, 500 feet from the site. The site is dog-friendly too, with a specific showering area for canine companions, so do feel free to bring all members of the family on those rural rambles, or pile everyone into the car for a 10-minute journey to the trails of the Yorkshire Wolds. Prefer to explore with pedal power? Handy secure bike storage on site should relieve worried minds on non-cycling days, and will keep pitches clear in the evenings for laying out eats from the honesty shop and cosying up next to one of the firepits available for hire on site.

Local attractions

Get immediately stuck in on explores of pretty Yorkshire towns with a jaunt in to Beverley, 15 minutes' drive from base. As well as markets to amble through on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the town has a spectacular Minster, a community museum, and a cultural centre to wander around. Need more? Little kids can be diverted at the Jack in the Box indoor play centre, and mum and dad can put some money on the line at the Beverley racecourse, just outside of town. Further afield, days on the beach at Hornsea shouldn’t be confined to salty splashing about... Fans of creepy-crawlies should start explores of the resort at Bugtopia, wannabe naval officers might want to take to Hornsea Mere for some boating, and walkers of all stripes can set off from here on the 215-mile coast-to-coast Trans Pennine Trail. Get last bits of kids’ energy out at Let Loose! adventure park, five minutes from base, before departing on a grand tour of classic stately mansions. The closest is Burton Constable, an Elizabethan manor half an hour from the site with an 18th-century cabinet of curiosities, and it’s 40 minutes to Burton Agnes. The jewel in Yorkshire’s crown, though, is Castle Howard – the spectacular mansion (which the eagle-eyed may recognise from Brideshead Revisited, and others) is an hour away.
