  • Seaside escape 10 minutes' drive from award-winning Coldingham Sands
  • Watersports paradise: try surfing, kayaking, diving and bodyboarding
  • An hour’s drive from Edinburgh
They say being by the ocean is good for your health… If that’s true, a stay at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park, a site on the Berwickshire coast of Scotland, might be even better than an apple a day. Coldingham Bay is a top spot for seaside getaways, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the award-winning Coldingham Sands. This is Scotland, so you may not get the beach weather you’re dreaming of, but if the climate isn’t cooperating, go for a stroll along the shore and take in the view of the North Sea and St Abbs from one of Berwickshire’s few sandy beaches nearby. You don’t have to stay on dry land to see the Berwickshire coast – Coldingham Bay is a haven for watersports, and you can take to the seas for surfing, diving, sea kayaking and bodyboarding, all of which are within easy reach of the site. Back on site, let the kids burn off energy at the playground, then fire up the barbecue for an evening feast – pick up the necessary supplies from the shop a few minutes’ walk away in Coldingham. If you fancy a break from cooking, there are plenty of restaurants in Eyemouth, 10 minutes’ drive from Coldingham Bay.

What customers say

Spacious, well-kept site with friendly staff & great facilities like a popular restaurant/bar. Pitches are large, level, serviced & good value. Great location near villages, beaches & coastal walks. Some found facilities dated & cleanliness/hot water issues. Site can be busy/noisy, esp. static caravan areas.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked Proximity to the village was good. Also the overall price of the pitch for ine night was good. Pitch was level.

Disliked A very big site due to the statics. No signage for reception which was in the middle of the site. Spend 10 minutes trying to find it then discovered it was in the new bar complex. Receptionist said she had asked for signs several times! Problems with the new ehu boxes when connecting up
Took 20 minutes switching trip switches until it worked, should be a sign showing positions where all the switches should be. Our neighbour also had problems and thought his was hooked up but wasn't working until we sorted the trip switches. Not enough showers...just 2 for the size of site, had to wait an hour. Also, many sites provide free wi fi. This site charges.

Liked Nice clean site, facilities were good but only one shower available with hot water.
Restuarant & bar were very good.

Disliked Unfortunately we had to leave the site early, there were bird scaring devices in the adjoining fields which gave off loud bangs at regular intervals which scared our dog. The bird scaring devices operated 24 hours.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked We really liked this place and will definitely come back when in the area. This is mainly a static caravan leisure park (as advertised, so that shouldn't really surprise anyone), and the area is massive. Extremely well-kept and peaceful. We were walking around, admiring people's garden areas - spectacular.

The price at £20/night for a hard-gravel pitch with electricity is an absolute bargain (we had just been paying a tenner per day for 24-hour parking at a nearby beach, with no facilities whatsoever).

These pitches are huge and surrounded by lots of greenery and easy access to WC/showers, dishwashing area, recycling area and waste disposal.

There is a nice woodland walk, a restaurant/bar - and for those with children, a good playground. Walking distance to St Abbs and a great beach.

There is wifi - it is charged at various rates, getting cheaper the longer you stay. We kept to our mobile data, so we can't comment on speeds and connection.

We arrived very early (more than an 1hr before check-in) because we drove there in bad weather and skipped the stops we had planned. This was no issue at all, the staff were great and let us book in early. Really appreciated that. Big thank you!

Disliked Not really a dislike, more of a mention. Showers could use a wee upgrade. Both the gents and the female block had only two showers: one electrical hot shower and one cold shower, and the latter was only just dripping in the male block.

Hot water was also scarce in the washing-up area, which had 3 great and huge hospitality-style sinks, so we were a bit surprised by this. However, we brought the kettle and boiled some water, so it was not an issue. (And we did spot plumbers as we left on the final day. Perhaps they were there to sort it). We never addressed it to the staff because we weren't bothered. But for some, it might be a bigger deal...

Local attractions

Ramblers, cyclists and adventurers of all types will be well served at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park. Start with a stroll along the woodland paths accessible straight from the site, then graduate to something a little more challenging: the Southern Upland Way starts a 20-minute drive away in Cockburnspath and the Berwickshire Coastal Path can be picked up at the nearby bay. In the land of 'the Scottish play’, it should come as no surprise that castles, historic buildings and ruins are in no short supply around here: explore the remains of Coldingham Priory 15 minutes’ walk away, or head to Preston Mill, Paxton House, Bamburgh Castle or Ford & Etal Estates, all within an hour of the site. Beer fans have come to the right place too – Belhaven Brewery, Scotland’s oldest working brewery, is half an hour’s drive away. Make the trip for tours of the 300 year old craft brewery, stories from the beers’ history and, of course, tastings in The Monks’ Retreat bar. If you’re seeking something a little more urban, Scotland’s capital is an hour away. Stroll along the Royal Mile from Holyrood to Edinburgh Castle, find Dean Village and Circus Lane in the New Town, play a round on Bruntsfield Links and climb Arthur’s Seat for views over the city. Edinburgh’s a paradise for foodies too, with everything from gastropubs to Michelin starred restaurants dotting the city.
