General

  • Seaside escape 10 minutes' drive from award-winning Coldingham Sands
  • Watersports paradise: try surfing, kayaking, diving and bodyboarding
  • An hour’s drive from Edinburgh

They say being by the ocean is good for your health… If that’s true, a stay at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park, a site in the scenic coastal village of Coldingham on the Berwickshire coast of Scotland, might be even better than an apple a day.

Coldingham Bay is a top spot for seaside getaways, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the award-winning Coldingham Sands. This is Scotland, so you may not get the beach weather you’re dreaming of, but if the weather isn’t cooperating, go for a stroll along the shore and take in the view of the North Sea and St Abbs from one of Berwickshire’s few sandy beaches.

You don’t have to stay on dry land to see the Berwickshire coast – Coldingham Bay is a haven for watersports, and you can take to the seas for surfing, diving, sea kayaking and bodyboarding all within easy reach of the site.

Back on site, let the kids burn off energy at the playground while you unwind in the games room or bar, then fire up the barbecue for an evening feast – pick up the necessary supplies from the shop a few minutes’ walk away in Coldingham. If you fancy a break from cooking, there are plenty of restaurants in Eyemouth, 10 minutes’ drive from Coldingham Bay.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They resolve any issues very quickly. The site is kept clean and tidy. There are plenty of bins and onsite recycling plus dog bins. Facilities are kept clean and tidy. The showers are very good with lovely hot water which comes through after one push. Super touring pitches are level and gravelled with water and electric hook up which is very good. Tv reception was very good as well. Overall it is a lovely dog friendly site and we really enjoyed the quiet. The location of the site is great too in a beautiful area just on the edge of Coldingham which has a wealth of history and the fabulous Priory just down the road and is also in close proximity to Coldingham Sands Beach arguably one of Scotland’s best beaches and a popular surf spot. St. Abbs is also very close with a spectacular nature reserve. A highly recommended site in a highly recommended area. We’ll definitely be back.

    Disliked:

There was nothing that we disliked but perhaps bins behind the play park could be labelled clearer.

    Disliked:

toilets awful, horrible floating toilets which never seem to work properly, whoever invented them needs locking up for being so stupid, they didn't flush very well, the paper was in an odd dispenser which makes it come out all scrunched up, although they were clean, but that's all that was good about them.

Local attractions

Ramblers, cyclists and adventurers of all types will be well served at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park. Start with a stroll along the woodland paths accessible straight from the site, then graduate to something a little more challenging: the Southern Upland Way starts a 20-minute drive away in Cockburnspath and the Berwickshire Coastal Path can be picked up at the nearby bay.

In the land of 'the Scottish play’, it should come as no surprise that castles, historic buildings and ruins are in no short supply around here: explore the remains of Coldingham Priory 15 minutes’ walk away, or head to Preston Mill, Paxton House, Bamburgh Castle or Ford & Etal Estates, all within an hour of the site.

Beer fans have come to the right place too – Belhaven Brewery, Scotland’s oldest working brewery, is half an hour’s drive away. Make the trip for tours of the 300 year old craft brewery, stories from the beers’ history and, of course, tastings in The Monks’ Retreat bar.

If you’re seeking something a little more urban, Scotland’s capital is an hour away. Stroll along the Royal Mile from Holyrood to Edinburgh Castle, find Dean Village and Circus Lane in the New Town, play a round on Bruntsfield Links and climb Arthur’s Seat for views over the city. Edinburgh’s a paradise for foodies too, with everything from gastropubs to Michelin starred restaurants dotting the city.

Must see

  • Berwick-upon-Tweed Barracks & Main Guard (10.4 miles)
  • Berwick-upon-Tweed Museum and Art Gallery (10.4 miles)
  • Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle & Ramparts (10.6 miles)
