  • Seaside escape 10 minutes' drive from award-winning Coldingham Sands
  • Watersports paradise: try surfing, kayaking, diving and bodyboarding
  • An hour’s drive from Edinburgh
They say being by the ocean is good for your health… If that’s true, a stay at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park, a site on the Berwickshire coast of Scotland, might be even better than an apple a day. Coldingham Bay is a top spot for seaside getaways, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the award-winning Coldingham Sands. This is Scotland, so you may not get the beach weather you’re dreaming of, but if the climate isn’t cooperating, go for a stroll along the shore and take in the view of the North Sea and St Abbs from one of Berwickshire’s few sandy beaches nearby. You don’t have to stay on dry land to see the Berwickshire coast – Coldingham Bay is a haven for watersports, and you can take to the seas for surfing, diving, sea kayaking and bodyboarding, all of which are within easy reach of the site. Back on site, let the kids burn off energy at the playground, then fire up the barbecue for an evening feast – pick up the necessary supplies from the shop a few minutes’ walk away in Coldingham. If you fancy a break from cooking, there are plenty of restaurants in Eyemouth, 10 minutes’ drive from Coldingham Bay.

What customers say

Great site, spacious pitches, friendly staff, top location near village/beach. Bar/eatery a bonus. Facilities clean but dated/being done up. Hot water/cleanliness occasionally patchy, but temp showers were good. Some pitch/WiFi fumbles noted.

Liked The middle hedged pitches are great. All serviced and accessible. The toilet block has been getting a face lift which is great. The staff were very helpful too and sorted a couple of problems we had.

Liked Fantastic location, so easy to get around to places
The toilets were so so good so clean and beautifully presented.
Staff on reception were so pleasant, and welcoming.

Disliked Site was not busy on the touring side, so could not understand why we were put next to a caravan that is in a very sorry state and lots of rubbish around it.
We were pitch 41
The girls in the bar were not so pleasant, one served my husband with a what do you want !! But having 4 daughters ourselves we just smiled about it.

Liked Pitch very spacious, large enough if you have an awning with a campervan

Disliked Shower floors dirty in Ladies due to there being no mop to wipe floor after shower. Only 2 shower cubicles which in my opinion were not enough for size of site.

Liked Good sized level pitch with tap and grey disposal. Little bar/restaurant was quite good and well priced with friendly staff. Ladies toilet block looked newly refurbed and was clean.

Disliked Strimming in the early evening when you want to settle down (though I guess better than early morning) but just leaving grass all over the paths to be trodden into units. Small, half finished toilet block with a huge bit of hardboard propped against the wall of the ladies and clearly a half finished paint job with tins of paint and dust sheets and assorted rubbish in the dishwashing conservatory. Can't comment on how good the showers are but there are only 2 in the ladies and very small. Oh and an arc light at each of the EHU bollards, or so it seemed..no need for such bright lighting on pitches all night..I could not block it out.

Liked The pitch was a perfect size for our campervan.
The staff on arrival were friendly and polite. We spoke with the staff in the bar who were very friendly and maintenance staff who gave us some good tips on where to go.
The toilet/shower block were being repainted but were still useable.
The location was perfect for a walk into the village and the Coldingham Sands beach.

Disliked The hot water in the dishwashing area wasn’t hot and I had to keep my hand on the tap so that the water kept flowing.

Liked Fully serviced pitches were good. Restaurant was good.

Disliked Slightly disappointed with the toilet block. I felt there should be items within each toilet to allow folks to clean after them. There were no toilet brushes for instance. Also one of the chemical toilet emptying places was blocked. Having said that this may be down to irresponsible visitors rather than site maintenance.

Local attractions

Ramblers, cyclists and adventurers of all types will be well served at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park. Start with a stroll along the woodland paths accessible straight from the site, then graduate to something a little more challenging: the Southern Upland Way starts a 20-minute drive away in Cockburnspath and the Berwickshire Coastal Path can be picked up at the nearby bay. In the land of 'the Scottish play’, it should come as no surprise that castles, historic buildings and ruins are in no short supply around here: explore the remains of Coldingham Priory 15 minutes’ walk away, or head to Preston Mill, Paxton House, Bamburgh Castle or Ford & Etal Estates, all within an hour of the site. Beer fans have come to the right place too – Belhaven Brewery, Scotland’s oldest working brewery, is half an hour’s drive away. Make the trip for tours of the 300 year old craft brewery, stories from the beers’ history and, of course, tastings in The Monks’ Retreat bar. If you’re seeking something a little more urban, Scotland’s capital is an hour away. Stroll along the Royal Mile from Holyrood to Edinburgh Castle, find Dean Village and Circus Lane in the New Town, play a round on Bruntsfield Links and climb Arthur’s Seat for views over the city. Edinburgh’s a paradise for foodies too, with everything from gastropubs to Michelin starred restaurants dotting the city.
