  • Large family-friendly bar and restaurant with events and takeaways
  • Spacious beer garden with play area and large climbing frame
Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is 10 minutes' drive away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too. Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant. There's also a big beer garden with a play area. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers. The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too). It's got a pool table for evenings of friendly competition, and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights. New Broom also has a toilet/shower facility that guests can use free of charge, 24 hours a day.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Excellent location and very good pitches that were well keep. The site is next to a busy road but that was not bother and the owners do provide you with free ear plugs. The food in the food was really good with friendly staff.

Disliked The only thing that ruined the trip and this is no fault of the campsite was the feral / vile children from other families running around and causing trouble.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Friendly landlord and very helpful - allowed to choose own pitch within the EHU field. Pub food excellent and fab staff.

Disliked Not enough showers/toilets for the size of the camp. Shower was hot and no ‘cut off button’ so plentiful.

No ‘drive over’ grey waste water drain so had to fill buckets to take to disposal area.

There is road noise but to be expected as on a main road.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Very convenient site and easy to use with no fuss or performance and well-located for what I needed! Met some lovely fellow campers in my four nights here too!

Although I did not make use of it in the end for myself, very useful to know that there was a pub on the doorstep offering food including breakfasts. Fellow campers said the food was good.

Toilet and shower facilities were kept very clean, particularly given the small number for the amount of people using them!

Disliked Not a real dislike, but felt there were not many loos or showers for the number of pitches ... but I did only have to wait on one morning to get into the shower!

First night, with my pop top up I was disturbed by traffic noise from the nearby road and the more distant A road. On subsequent nights I kept the pop top down and slept like a baby!!
