What customers say
This is a peaceful, welcoming, well-kept site with ample pitches. Facilities are often praised as clean & modern, with ongoing upgrades. The shop is handy. Fishing is a hit. Most had a great stay & plan to return, though some found pitches sloped (bring levelling blocks) & shower stalls a bit small.

Liked Peaceful site , clean toilets and showers and a lovely pond to walk round with the dog
Disliked The gravel floor down to the toilet block but was told it’s going to have tarmac put down so will be a lot better, there also was a lot of building work going to be done so our view wasn’t the best also the grass hadn’t been cut so was quite long , I’m sure when the improvements have been done it will be lovely

Liked Decent sized pitches and helpful staff. Facilities were clean.
Disliked Unfortunately we were at the top of the site right next to a road which was quite noisy at times but not the campsites fault.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked It was quiet.
Disliked Hardstanding slope quite badly and are full of weeds, grass badly in need of cutting, water taps are a long long way from the pitch no drains on a fully serviced pitches? It's basically a very dusty building site save from the area around the fishing lake, sadly I will not be returning.

From the manager: Good morning Phil
As we saw you all on a daily basis and we chatted and nothing was mentioned, we will not be answering your review.
As explained there is an area behind your pitch which is for the grey waste

Liked Friendly staff, more than helpful when we suffered a motorhome breakdown and were able to extend our stay.
Offered advice on local takeaways that delivered to the site, even offered to pick up any groceries if we needed them.
Handy little shop that stocked important chocolate - so needed when things are not going so well!
Disliked The incline walk back from the shower block/ toilets - not good when you live with a disability - incline not visible from gallery pictures, although to be fair the listing does say chocks and levellers may be needed, but I guess if you're booking Derbyshire and you come from Norfolk, any molehill is a mountain :-)

Liked We stayed here while attending a wedding locally. Staff were friendly and helpful, facilities are great and the pitches are nicely spaced out and easily accessible.

A peaceful and enjoyable stay

Liked We liked the water service being so accessible. It would’ve been even better if we had been told about the grey waste drain near our pitch. We spent a while looking for one!
We liked the combination of hard standing and grass, as we dislike putting our awning on hard standing. Everyone on site was friendly but not obtrusive.
The lakeside vista was beautiful.
Facilities were clean and more than adequate.
Staff were friendly, but could’ve been more informative.
There was a larger shower cubicle available in each facility which were not aware of, but would’ve used.
The 5G connection was consistent.
Disliked My initial view on arrival was negative due to development. The site looked shabby upon arrival due to the building site. However, after staying a while, this was not an issue.
Facilities were a little too far away for us, as one of us has mobility issues. I think if we had made this clear, it would have been accommodated.
We’d have liked a bit more guidance on site facilities as there was much that we were unaware of.
Tent pitches are no longer available. The website should make this clear.
Some campers did not have their dogs on leads and on more than occasion the dogs went AWOL.

Recommend for a night or two, but the sloping site is uncomfortable.

Liked Jo was friendly.
The site was relatively quiet during the week, only getting busier at the weekend.
Fishing was a good (but the only) option for entertainment.
Beautiful countryside landscape.
Disliked The site is on a slope. Even with our levelling chucks, the motorhome was sloped quite drastically.
The women's showers had an annoying timed light system. On every occasion I showered, I was left in darkness and any motion sensor isn't in the showers. There are no windows either, so the light has to be on really - not much point in a sensor.
The shop is very expensive- make sure you have your essentials before you arrive.
There is nothing at all around and no public transport. If you have a car, it would be much better.
The WiFi doesn't reach to the pitches.

From the manager: Colleen if you had spoke to us, we could have looked at putting you on a different pitch, there is a slight slope, which is explained on pitch up.
The showers do have working sensors and once the light comes on it stays on for ten minutes, no one has every complained that they didnt have time for a shower, once you come out of the shower, the sensor picks up your movement and will continue and the light stays on
Not sure what you mean by the shop is very expensive, the dearest product is a bottle of wine for £10,most customers say that we are too cheap for a camp site shop.
There are buses at the top of the road that take you to Ashbourne or Derby
The wifi is not advertised on pitch up as it only works around the reception area but 5g is excellent here.
If you had bothered to read about our site on pitch up, all your questions would have been answered including that we do not have a clubhouse or entertainment, hopefully you will do this before you stay anywhere else and save them the bad review
Lovely quiet and clean site with friendly and helpful staff
Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Large pitches, clean showers and washing up area, no music after 9.30, little shop on site
Disliked Could do with another toilet and shower block
