  • Well-kept Wiltshire site 10 minutes’ walk from Lacock village centre
  • A half-hour drive to Bath; 45 minutes to Stonehenge and Longleat
  • Dog-friendly pitches with a playground and dedicated ball games area
What’s on your wishlist for a Wiltshire outdoor break? A peaceful location? Easy access from a main road? A village close by so you can easily walk to a pub and shop? Somewhere family friendly that also accepts dogs? If you said ‘yes’ to any – or indeed all – of the above, you’ll most likely be rather taken with Piccadilly Caravan Park, in a rural spot 10 minutes’ walk from the National Trust village of Lacock. That handy position means you’ll have several lovely pubs and independent shops close by. As well as being handily within reach of all that, the park is only a little way off the A350, putting it in a good position for getting out and about to explore the rest of what Wiltshire (and beyond) has to offer. Day trips to Bath and Longleat are easily doable in less than 45 minutes’ drive, and there are all sorts of walks and bike rides to be enjoyed locally. Around the site’s well-kept grounds are hedges for privacy and a good collection of facilities, including picnic areas, a small playground and a designated games field where the kids can have a run around. Dogs, too, have a dedicated exercise area where they can stretch their paws properly. Showers, toilets, a washing-up area, a launderette and wifi are also part of the picture, and the team here prides itself on keeping the facilities clean and the grounds in excellent shape.

What customers say

A neat, calm campsite with generous spots. Top marks for brilliant facilities, welcoming staff, and a handy spot near Lacock village. Dog walking paddock and a good vibe for families. A few mention construction noise & older showers, but improvements are happening. Most had a great time and would come back.

Powered grass site

Liked No need to check in -straight to designated pitch -loved this. Well kept site with spotlessly clean facilities

Disliked Shower -unable to control temperature. We had a problem with ants. I know we are in nature and it was probably just the right conditions for them to appear and I really have no idea what the site would do about this other than check pitch for possible nest

Liked One of the best parks we’ve been to in almost 6 years of Motorhome touring!
Once we arrived, Rachael, site staff, come over to see if everything was OK, we mentioned shady pitch (read on later), but as pitches are allocated before you arrive we stayed put, she was very helpful though!
Pitches are very spacious, level and with lots of grass surrounding so plenty of space adjacent; yet there is plenty of privacy too. Ours was in a corner (8) under a tree so we thought we wouldn’t get much sun. However it was lovely in the mornings and we had enough room to be able to follow the sun throughout the day! It turned out to be a lovely pitch in the end! You have the option when booking to choose a sun or shade pitch. The facilities were superb, very clean and showers were fab. The whole park is very well laid out with lots of flowers and shrubs, all very attractive. Only a 6 minute walk from the site, over the main road is a footpath near the crossing point which takes you into the beautiful village of Lacock. It’s like stepping back in time, absolutely beautiful with all buildings beautifully preserved. There are two delightful pubs, The Red Lion & The George Inn, outside the George you can get the bus into either Chippenham or to a connecting service to Bath. The service is hourly and reliable and a good way to see some fabulous Wiltshire countryside.
This site ticked all the boxes for us and we had the best time-would thoroughly recommend!
Added to this their WiFi service was excellent-something the well known member clubs should take on board! Whenever we stay on one of their sites their WiFi is nonexistent…and these are sites we pay a membership fee to stay on!

Disliked There’s nothing to dislike!

Liked Nice pitch

Disliked Showers too small
No motorhome point for waste water disposal

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We're pleased to hear you liked your pitch.

We're sorry to hear that you found the showers too small. We do, however, regularly receive very positive comments about our facilities, so it's always helpful to hear different perspectives. If you had mentioned this during your stay, we would have been more than happy to direct you to our family bathroom, which has a much larger shower and offers more space.

Thank you also for your comment regarding the motorhome waste water disposal point. We appreciate all feedback as it helps us consider future improvements.

Local attractions

As well as centuries-old traditional pubs and several jewellery or design shops, Lacock is home to a beautifully restored tithe barn dating from c.1230. On the outskirts of this gorgeous National Trust-owned village is an 800-year-old abbey that’s had starring roles in both Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter films; the Fox Talbot photography museum is set in the abbey grounds. Other big-hitting attractions in this corner of Wiltshire include the magical Avebury Stone Circles, which link to a mysterious man-made mound at Silbury Hill (both half an hour’s drive). From there, you can continue the prehistoric theme with a visit to spectacular Stonehenge (45 minutes) and its interactive visitor centre. Coming more up to date, Caen Hill Locks (20 minutes) on the Kennet and Avon Canal comprise 29 locks rising 237 feet over two miles and were designed by engineer John Rennie in 1810. There are golf courses and events galore held at Bowood House and Gardens (15 minutes’ drive), while picture-perfect Castle Combe (20 minutes) has repeatedly been voted one of the prettiest villages in the UK.
