What customers say
This quiet spot has big, private campsites with heaps of room. Visitors love the stunning nature, animals, and river swimming. Facilities are basic but clean, with top hosts. Some found the walk to facilities a bit long and wished for more shade in heat. Management replies show they're improving things.

Brilliant, can’t wait to return!
Eco unpowered grass and earth campervan or tent site (private bathroom amenities)
Liked We stayed in a eco pitch for a couple nights. Absolutely brilliant and we are looking at returning in a few weeks.
To list some of the aspects we liked:-
-Pitches were huge
-composting toilet which was clean and had easy instructions to use/clean when leaving.
-Pitch spaced very far apart which was ideal for us as had a toddler and baby. They definitely haven’t crammed people in to make money which we see a fair bit.
-Apparently three access spots to the river however we only went to two. The one on the right side of the map is ideal for paddleboard/kayaks however is peaceful with small water dam/fall.
- camp fire allowed and a fire pit was provided with the eco pitch and also had all the basics inc wood +matches in the welcome pack for the first night.
- shop was stocked with fresh meat/eggs/coffee machine/ wood and they take card which is great.
Owner Fi was very nice. Haven’t got a bad word to say about the site, very reasonable for what you get and looking forward to returning in the near future.

Quiet, peaceful and dark site with widely spaced pitches
Freedom unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Huge site with pitches widely spaced, perfect for privacy, quiet and peaceful nights and restful camping. No unnecessary lighting, so it was properly dark at night. Watching the birds and the hares around the campsite and the surrounding fields was delightful. Lovely swimming holes, easy to access and beautifully shaded, perfect in the hot weather. Shower cubicles are basic but showers are powerful with plenty of hot water.
Disliked It's a bit of a trek from some pitches to the loos/showers/washing up sinks and even longer to the swimming holes - a mown path across the field and/or a stile over the fence would help if that were possible. Or bring bikes!

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. The field in the middle of the freedom pitches is actually a crop - I have asked the farmer if I could mow a few paths across the middle - you can imagine his reply! The Stepping Stones were reinstated last year having suffered years of flood damage but were promptly removed by the landowner on the other side of the river - the reason for the map is that they are actually called The Stepping Stones not because there are any but because that is what they are called on the OS map - unhelpfully I agree. A shallow wade for an adventurous camper across to the other side is what we usually suggest - sorry we didn't see you to explain. Bikes is a good idea - will suggest that in our commentary on Pitchup. Come again soon.
Wonderful as always. Thanks for allowing us the extra night.
