Positiv A spacious site with a wide variety of tents, roof tents, campers, and motorhomes. Facilities were good, including a small shop with friendly staff, a mobile cafe in the evening and morning, and a (very) late check-out time. As well as families and groups, there were a few very seasoned motorhomers who were friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. We enjoyed chatting with some fascinating people during our short stay. The stone circle at the top of the hill, while relatively new, is beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and creates a wonderful atmosphere. Many of the campers on site made the short walk up the hill to enjoy the views at sunset together.

Negativ The “pitch where you like” policy could be a positive or a negative. The site was quite busy when we arrived, and as a larger motorhome it wasn’t immediately obvious how to manoeuvre round to a suitable spot. Flexibility is much nicer than rigid marked out plots, but relies on everyone using common sense. Others have mentioned that the site is on a hill. Not a problem or a dislike, just needs a bit of planning. Great views from the top of the site.

Positiv Lovely site. The owners were very welcoming, telling us all about the site and facilities, showing us to our pitch, and giving tips for the local area. The pitches are at the top of a fairly steep site, but set on terraces, so we enjoyed panoramic views right across to the coast. We visited on the opening weekend, so facilities were clean and worked perfectly. From conversations with the owners, I’ve no doubt they will stay this way throughout the season. Showers were full size cubicles with hot water, good pressure, and plenty of space to dry off and change. We ate on site, enjoying freshly made pizza and garlic bread at decent prices. There was a small play area at the bottom of the site near the cafe, alongside a marquee to eat or socialise in. As well as providing somewhere for children and families, it also contributed to making the camping area peaceful. The owners also have a large area of land above and behind the campsite which visitors are free to use, with deer, hares, and a variety of birds. We saw a quail and a few large birds of prey during our stay.
