Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, Schottland
Befestigter Wohnwagen-Stellplatz ohne Stromanschluss
Positiv Very friendly welcome by warden who walked us around several choices of pitch. Because I’m a bit nesh, we opted for the hardstanding behind the barrier rather than the more beautiful grass pitch by the loch. However, the hardstanding is no more ugly than loads of Caravanning & Motorhome Club pitches we’ve stayed on, and happy with the pitch.
The loch close by to watch the little grebes at play and a lovely walk in the park on your doorstep.
Two toilet blocks and they were pristine - and importantly. not closed for cleaning, just when you want to use them like on some sites.
Yes you are in a public park but felt totally safe on the hardstanding and the hop skip and a jump into Castle Douglas makes this a gem of a site.
Very quiet and slept well
Negativ Nothing

Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria, England
Grasbewachsener Stellplatz ohne Stromanschluss
Positiv Friendliness of welcome- wardens seemed genuinely chuffed ( northern word) we were there.
Gorgeous views and quirky facilities- loved showering in a rugby changing room
Walkable into Kirkby longsdale which is a lovely place. Even have my favourite supermarket Booths
Very quiet and could hear birds sing
Negativ Bit of a trog to chemical disposal ( but maybe that’s cos it was raining so seemed a long way )
Duke of Edinburgh there so a lot of titivating and chatting going on in the toilets which was a tad irritating- perhaps a separate toilet could have been opened just for them?
