Vom Platzbetreiber: Thank you for your review. We’re glad you enjoyed the good weather and found the facilities clean, two essentials for a great camping trip! We did notice you've rated other campsites 10/10 where pitches are laid out in a traditional side-by-side, back-to-back format. At Hayfield Hideaways, we’ve intentionally created something a little different. Our 10x10m circular pitches are spaced out with long grass and wildflowers between each one, offering a more peaceful and nature-connected experience. It’s a quirkier setup, designed to give guests more space and privacy, not to feel squeezed in. While we understand this layout may not suit everyone, many of our guests have commented on how much they love the generous spacing and tranquil setting. We’re proud to offer something a bit different. We do appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again in the future. Best regards, Hayfield Hideaways

Positiv The location was great
The weather was fantastic
Negativ Toilet was so disgusting made us gag
A man turned up to greet us didn’t seam to know much then proceeded to mow the grass do some hedge cutting and cut down a tree all with petrol equipment then empty bins
The pitches were far to close to each other no privacy at all
There was a few tables and chairs scattered around for customers to use but were very dirty
Iv never given a bad review but this place needs a serious rethink hopefully it was just a one off I hope other campers enjoyed it

Vom Platzbetreiber: Thank you for your review. I am glad you thought that the location was great. RE: "Toilet was so disgusting made us gag" I am sorry about the portaloo toilet in the woods. The toilet cleaning company normally cleans the toilet once a week, but on that weekend, they were 2 days late, hence I do agree with you over that hot weekend it was a bit smelly! I confirm it is now being emptied every week without fail. RE: "A man turned up to greet us didn’t seam to know much" The man who turned up to greet you all was myself and I apologise if I “didn’t seem to know much”. I have been running a caravan and motorhome site now for over 7 years, and have lived in the area for much of my life, so I have a rough idea of how things work now and local area, but sometimes I don't say too much as I have a bit of a stammer and I could tell that the 3 of you simply wanted to relax and chat, so I didn’t want to say too much or get in the way. Also, I have quite a bit of work to do here unfortunately, so normally I can’t chat for too long. I definitely did show you a 2-sided sheet of A4 paper with all the site information, local places to visit and local walks on arrival, but I’m fairly sure I remember that you didn’t want to read it and simply handed it back to me, so I tried to tell you about the site and area! RE: "He then proceeded to mow the grass do some hedge cutting …." I am sorry that I then proceeded to mow the grass and do some hedge cutting etc. Unfortunately, with all the hot and humid weather that we've been recently having, the grass and hedges have been growing really fast and unfortunately when you stay on any campsite you have to realise that there might be the occasional bit of noise with the lawnmower, hedge cutters etc. in order to make the place looks its best at all times. Sometimes we must cut the grass 2 times a week at the moment, otherwise the place would look untidy. I do apologise about this, but the noise wasn't for that long and I did stop mowing the grass it when you asked me to stop the noise. It is unfortunately very difficult to find a good time to do gardening without disturbing anyone, as obviously my gardener and I can't make any noise in the early morning or the evenings. Plants and grass grow which is a real weekly annoyance for us! RE: "The pitches were far too close to each other no privacy at all." I put you on pitch 18 which is a fairly private pitch in my opinion. Most of the pitches here have trees or shrubs in between them, so I confirm most of pitches are fairly private. This campsite is in stark contrast to some campsites which are on a big open field, where there is no privacy at all. In fact, most people who stay here tell me how nice it is to have the private pitches, and trees and shrubs dividing them, so am a little confused by this comment. RE: "There was a few tables and chairs scattered around for customers to use but were very dirty." Sorry, I confirm that these have now been all cleaned and moved into more appropriate positions. (People will move tables and chairs around of course too, which is out of my control!) RE: "I’ve never given a bad review, but this place needs a serious rethink hopefully it was just a one off…" Yes, I think it was just a one off. Like many new campsites, we are still slightly work in progress here and trying to improve the privacy and surface of the pitches, but I can assure you we are getting there!
