The name of this site gives you something of a clue about what its main attraction is. Yes, that's right – Paradis des Oiseaux is a fabulous spot for those of you who are interested in wildlife, and specifically birdwatching.
This peaceful Upper Normandy site is in a particularly excellent location within the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Natural Park, just a few minutes’ walk from the banks of the River Seine. The park’s varied landscapes – including wetlands and woodlands – are popular with resident species such as woodpeckers, herons and egrets, along with migratory birds such as storks, nightjars, corncrakes, buzzards and many others.
Birdwatching isn't the only outdoor option around here – the park is well supplied with walking and bike trails, along with golf, horse riding, fishing and watersports. And when you fancy a change of pace, it’s handy to know that Rouen, Honfleur and Étretat are all within an hour’s drive too.
It’s not just the surroundings that are attractive here – the place itself is rather lovely, with just a small number of pitches scattered around a large garden full of fruit trees, flowers and other greenery. It’s all about the natural setting and soaking up the fresh air and views, so you won't find heaps of facilities and entertainments here. The practical amenities have been nicely thought out though – you’ll have access to a shared fridge and freezer, a launderette, a wifi service and a chemical disposal point as well as toilets and showers.

Your main activity here may well be birdwatching or wildlife spotting, and the folk that run the park have made that nice and easy by providing both waymarked trails and handy information sheets to tell you what to look out for along the way. You can also go horse riding from Quarter Horse Dream (10 minutes’ drive), go swimming and find watersports at Base Recreation Jumièges (half an hour) or try the aerial trails at Espace Normandie Aventure (35 minutes).
To learn more about the area and its history, visit MuséoSeine (10 minutes), visit Jumièges Abbey (20 minutes) and Musée Victor Hugo (20 minutes). Kids, meanwhile, may prefer learning more about nature by spying on the creatures at Parc Animalier de la Forêt de Roumare (45 minutes).
For heritage-themed day trips around the area, turn your sights to places like Pont-Audemer (half an hour), Honfleur (50 minutes) and Rouen (50 minutes) – all of them lovely places for a stroll. You could also spend a day exploring the white cliffs and other coastal scenery around Étretat (an hour).
