Merley Hall Farm

Wild-style Dorset stays await at Merley Hall Farm, a well-maintained site based in meadows directly alongside the river Stour and two miles from central Wimborne. Located just off the A31, this peaceful site is well-placed for accessing the Wimborne Folk Festival, which runs on select dates in June with splendid music, dancing and street food.… and other local highlights include Poole, Bournemouth beach and the spectacular landscapes of the Isle of Purbeck. Once you've rolled up here and picked your pitch, there's plenty of space to go for tours of the large woodland-fringed meadow or to let the kids blow off some steam in the roped-off recreation area. This simple site is fairly low in frills, but basic temporary toilet and shower facilities are available. Please note that the site does not have electricity. Barbecues are welcome here as long as simple safety measures are followed, so in the evening you can either get toasty around a blaze or drive 10 minutes into Wimborne for evening strolls and a meal out. A wider range of evening entertainment is on hand in Bournemouth (25 minutes), where there are bars, nightclubs, cinemas and pier amusements to explore. Closer to base, you could just as easily relax on the banks of the river Stour at Canford (three miles), where there's a pedestrian suspension bridge and riverside park.
